Starting tomorrow I`ll be unemployed :(

Well, here it is. It happened... After all these weeks and months of stress from the employer who kept saying : I`ll close the company, I can`t do it anymore... it happened...
He came to us tonight and told us there is no more work and the plasma cutting machine which was everything there has broken ...he called the technician and there`s some microprocessor or something similar that`s burned and it takes more than one month to get here, etc...:|

Well, the employer said he`ll try to see if we can get that 80% of the amount they give you when you find yourself without work..dunno how it`s called in english...

Well, the hell , if I can`t find anything I`ll have to..dunno, go back to my country and go work the fields for some pieces of bread...LOL these past 2-3 months were so stressfull that now that it really happened , dunno how to react... all I can do is think about it and smile or laugh

sorry to hear that your becoming one of the many looking for a job. itll be ok. plus if they are getting you unemployement at 80% of your original pay that isnt too bad. here in ohio its only 60%. better than nothing though. ive been there and it all worked out in the end. keep your head up! if nothing else maybe some of our friends in the warmer climates are looking for pool boys and you can be their own private cabana boy... lol

@Mike: yeah I can stay here and search for a job. I have the residence here and an italian ID (not citizenship)! just you know...the right to stay here and work , etc.

My only concern is that you know, in a country, foreign people are on the bottom of the list when it comes for work... they will first hire their people and only after that the foreigners OR, they`ll hire foreigners only for the heavy work...and sincerely , after the problem with my hand, I cannot do a heavy job... hell, I still have that iron pin in my bone... not to mention the hand is a little..."handicapped" now LOL! half of the strenght I used to have in it now...:|

Hey Jamie...I am in the mortgage business which here in the States may as well be the definition of unemployed. I can't tell you how many times I've been layed off and while its never news I cared to hear, when it was all said and done I was better off because of it. While I know how stressful it is, its an opportunity to sell yourself (well, not that way...lol) and strive for something better.
If you get 80% of your pay from the government (we call it unemployment insurance) then that is great. Hell, its no where near that here, at least in New Jersey. That will afford you time to gather yourself, form a plan and make something good happen. And it will, as long as you stay motivated, reach out to others for help (very important), keep yourself busy and having a positive outlook. I guess your a foreigner in Italy but don't let that stand in your way and its way to early to think about returning to Romania...take a few days to gather your thoughts and relax and then get to it...I promise you that things will work out. You're a great guy and good things happen to great people.

So...apparently (well it`s not 100% sure) my employer cannot send me in the unemployed thing... well, here there are 2 options: they send you in "cassa integrazione" meaning there is no work, they`ll pay you 80%/month but whe the boss starts work, he`ll call you back... or, the unemployed`s help or something..meaning you`re fired and they give you this help which is about 70%/month untill you find a job (not more than 6 months anyways). So, apparently no cassa integrazione because the condition for that is that the employer has 15+ employees and we`re only 3 and no unemployed`s help because I don`t yet have 2 years of work under the same employer... (a condition here for u to get the unemployed`s help is to have worked at least 2 years under 1 boss) ...:| Well, my boss did make the request for cassa integrazione and now he`s waiting for an answer... I think I~ll have to search for work ASAP!
