It's good if str8 people (although women) like to write about gay men. However, I think they can never truly emulate the REAL gay men. Most romance ebooks have writing style like Harlequin. Everything is unrealistically romantic, even the men. And the sex is too "polite". There's no fire... Not only I who think like that. In GoodReads, there's a gay-men group dedicated to criticizing M/M romance :)

Polite unrealistic M/M romance may appeal to female but not to gay men! Of course, there's nothing wrong with being romantic! Problem is... it's being mis-used by M/M female writers. When they write about gay men, they put themselves into stories. And BAM! We read about the love between women-with-dicks.

Yes, there are very dirty M/M novels (and mostly written by men). Women writer... they can only write about "women with dicks". Gay love is not like that. We're wild, passionate, fiery! Too dirty for women :)

So honestly Im not really into M/M romance. Yes I want to read gay stories, but the ones that also hv hot sex and hot fantasies. 100% porn can be boring. But 100% romance is even more boring. That's why I decide to write. I want to write the kinds of stories that I'm dying to read: romance with porn or porn with romance.

What women authors you have read? I'm simply asking because I'm curious.

I read many but many were dropped coz I lost interest :(

As I said, I do like when str8 people write gay stories. It spread gay love everywhere. BUT at the same time, most gay men dislike M/M romance.

I got the feeling you don't really appreciate women writers, but I can be mistaking. In my opinion the writing skills matters, not the gender or the sexual orientation.

No, I'm not anti women writers X_X As I said I appreciate str8 women who like writing gay stories. Gender doesn't bother me! (except in sex :p) What bothers me is writing style. I guess it's a matter of taste. Or maybe women and men do think differently.

Many women like porn, I'm quite good example for that :p It is just common attitude/misunderstanding/illusion that women only like romantic harlequin-style. Me for example, I'm ready to scream when the promising scene ends just when things were getting interesting. I like to read about cocks, not manhoods (I hate that word :p) and I read lots of gay erotic books (written by women). But on the other hand one likes this when other likes that.

I do not give a thing about whether a book is written by a man or a woman. It is either well written or not.
As to gay erotica - I think that there is no law against romantic and sometimes even sentimental books in that genre, is there? If there is then I often support illegal material :D

Why don't someone post a gay story here without author and we can guess if it was written by a man or woman? ;)

I don't have a problem with a straight woman writing gay romances. Many of the most popular authors in the genre seem to be straight women and most of the readers seem to be straight women as well!

However, every once in a while you do run across something and it takes you out of the book and you think "Okay, this was clearly written by a woman." For example, I read a book where a supposedly gay guy thought he was gay because he didn't grow up with a dad. I don't think any gay man would really think something like that.

There's also the popular "gay for you" sub-genre, which I personally don't like to read...

What's that sub-gerne about?

The "Gay for You" genre is about guys who are totally straight, but they meet a cute boy and fall in love for whatever reason. They are only gay for that one person.

Example: Guy is in love with his favorite actress in Ye Olde Shakespeare play, but GASP! it's a man. But he loves him so much, he turns gay for him.

Gay-for-you sounds silly coz in real life it's not going to happen ever. Even if it does, that man is actually bi or gay-in-denial.

In porn stories, gay-for-you is mostly used for BDSM scene. Believe it or not, many love it. I tried writing some and got some protest simply coz my characters turn gays too EASILY. Gay-for-you is also used for non BDSM porn but the plot is mostly about finding one's inner-gay.

In pure romance novels, gay-for-you sounds unrealistic.

But I think that's why it is written in novels, cause it can't really happen in real life, and cause it sounds soooo/too good. When thinking back all the straight guys I've fallen for in the past:dreaming: But usually if I would read somenthing like that, I would brolly be like 'wtf is this s**t?!', but when in right mood:heart:
