Shut downs really should have been expected. It is a game of cat and mouse. Things will evolve in this electronic age. One has to consider that sharing can not continue and the businesses continue to produce if revenue isn't what is needed.

Some here have expressed that there is something "Fishy" going on. Duh, there is! It is all connected to an upcoming election and who will help contribute what interest. GH is more than that if you want it to be. Perhaps this little oasis we gather on will reveal new ways to help you get what you want.

Just sit back a while and see what happens... Don't panic!

I can't help but feel foolish. There is a chat here? This would be a great time to share that in a link.

Quiet, the evening the sun sets ... and ... tomorrow there will be a new dawn.

Should we worry if this does not happen.

Everything else goes and returns.

Much of this is being driven by the movie and music recording industry. They are using their lobbyists to pressure the government to protect them from their own shortsightedness in failing to adapt to the changes brought about by the internet. The digital age has clobbered them but they stuck to their old ways.

The music industry has adapted somewhat through MP3 downloads, but I expect the compact disk to soon go the way of the VCR.

This past year attendance at movies theaters dropped drastically. There used to be two multiplexes within walking distance of my home. One shut down a couple of years ago and is to be replaced by apartments. I wonder how long the other will last. Despite 3D and IMAX, the public is staying away from theaters in droves. Movies are creating waves of indifference among people under the age of 25. Oddly attendance at showings of independent "art' films has remained strong.

A few years ago the government decreed that any site that posted nude photos or videos had to have on file proof that the subjects of those pics were at least 18 years old. Several web sites immediately shut down, including one of my favorites. But, in the long run, internet freedom won.

This shutdown of sharing sites is painful for us all. I feel cheated and think Filesonic and Fileserve owe me refunds of the balances of my premium subscriptions. I don't expect to get them.

It will take some time for the dust to settle, but I think the freedom of the internet will prevail in the long run. You can expect more battles to come. Meanwhile, download what you can and back up your files. We all may have to spend our time looking for stimulation from what we already have on our hard drives and backup disks.

And...it might not be wise to mention porn but there is nothing wrong about contacting your senators and congressmen to oppose the attempts to put straight jackets on the internet. Public pressure works.

Hang in there and a big comforting hug too all of you.C:C

This is very similar to an expression I posted on a different thread. I completely agree with you on this, thank you for stating it here.

If justice was fair, as it should be a true democracy, the FBI or other legal entity, you should also intervene to get back what you paid for.
But this is utopia.

Follow up comment.

In my post above I mentioned that the music recording industry has made some changes to the way it operates. I just read that last year (2011) digital music sales exceeded physical sales for the first time. Digital downloads are now greater that compact disk sales.

Is this a good thing? I leave that up to you. I am torn. I have often bought a CD that was a total waste except for one good song. On the other hand, I have sometimes found treasures among the lesser known songs on an album.

This is basically a tax payer funded bailout. Where is the Tea Party? Government's job isn't to prop up private industry.

Sadly, there are a great many people who believe the exact opposite. They contend that nothing has value unless it makes a profit for some private individual(s). They believe that the very basic purpose of government is to support business.

I think the studios may actually prefer a little sharing, since its like free advertising. Anyway, like others have already said, we'll have to wait and see.
