"Thanks" before downloading - reprise

OK, I have adjusted to this feature, mostly by not ever DLing from posts that use it. After a reasonable time, if no one else has uploaded the same file, I will make an exception.

However, now there is a further issue that I call creeping prethanking. I have now seen a post requiring a pre-thanks on each part of a single file.

Where does it end?

If people didn't think it helped protect their links and made the whole forum a better place for them to post, they wouldn't use it. Simple as.

It prevents searchengines, Google etc from finding them on the forum

not only to protect the links, keep google and the rest out but as Integri has mentioned whats wrong in saying thanks to the poster for their hard work in something that your interested in.
not as if u have to click thanks on all the posts only the ones that interest u in, a marker as to what you already downloaded
even if the movie turns out rather borning you still used the posters links and time and work, still deserves a thanks even as u press the delete button.
How many of the members here take the links, love the movies and never bother going back and clicking thanks, loosing the post in the sea of posts we get here?

But that is exactly my point. You have to thank before you DL when this feature is used. Perhaps visiting the post at all is thanks for uploading?

But actually, this reprise post is because even parts of single posts seem to get this feature now.

I agree completely with giving credit to those who provide files. And I do thank when I DL.
