Americans, Brits, Irish, Scotts, Aussies, We all speak English, but we also all have different dialects and slang terms. So I created this place where those of us on opposite sides of the pond can ask what these words, phrases and expressions mean. Those of you for whom English is not your native tongue are also welcome to ask here.

Good post. I have been wondering about this for years, I watched a Canadian diy program where a woman was attaching a home made tool holder to a fence, she explained as its a bit rustic it does not really mater if it´s straight, but i´m a wanker so I will use a spirit level. What does wanker mean in Canada, perhaps its almost the same as in the UK but does not carry the same weight, I would not use the word in polite conversation never mind on TV. Any Canadians here?
