See that's the great thing - with the repeal of DADT, he CAN'T get into trouble for this - a brave new world for gay service personnel in the US!

B.

Actually, he can get in trouble, because jumping up and wrapping your legs around someone while in uniform is considered too much in public, and isn't permitted whether male or female, gay or straight. I think I read that he received a reprimand from his superiors for that part of it. Hugging and kissing is allowed.

the military's sense of dignity, is just to awesome. I love the polished shoes. I'm dead jealous of the work that went into the spit shine.

Yes, that sense of dignity: you can kill but you can't show your love in public.

What 8oclockcoffee was referring to applies equally to ALL members of the US military.

First on-base marriage proposal.

Cory Huston, a former Navy corpsman who was kicked out of the military under DADT, proposed to his boyfriend, Avarice Guerrero who had just returned from Afghanistan at Camp Pendleton a US Marine base near Oceanside, CA. This is the first time a gay man has proposed to his boyfriend on a US military base.

Guerrero said that when Huston asked him to remove his promise ring he thought that Huston meant to break up with him. Then Huston got down on one knee and asked Guerrero to marry him. Gurrero said yes.

p:p:thumbs up::cheers:

Althought I'm not huge military fan I also like these pics so much. Because it shows to the public that gays aren't only hairdressers, fashion designers, etc... but just that gay people are in every work occupation.

I think it's cool because so many times the "media" (and I know about this) would portray this as "THEY"VE WAITED so LONG for the return of their LOVED ONES" ie...family, friends, married couple with kids (who could hate that?) OR just a gay couple (male or female) that some Photographer managed to capture the pure emotion of their reunion.

To me...it's a beautiful thing and I don't judge the subjects (or their lifestyles) of the reunion but appreciate the artistic value of the picture and this person who took a great photo of a very EMOTIONAL reunion...that's WHAT you want to capture as a photographer - PURE EMOTION! Leave it to the internet idiots and morons to disect WHY you took a picture...they will never understand actually TAKING that picture! THey can't....and never will...

That picture speaks volumes and encompasses years of 'untold stories' - cheers to you, mate - it should be on a bilboard, right alongside the one that says "Be ALL That You Can Be" :) :cheers: :thumbs up:

I wasn't sure I would ever see things like this in my lifetime. Serving openly in the military, marriage in some states, and now the president openly expresses support for gay marriage. Amazing. In a country that goes on about freedom quite a bit it seems to me that the freedom to love who you want should be so obviously the right answer. By thw way that is a great picture.

Gay civil union performed at New Jersey military base.

Tech. Sgt. Erwyn Umali and his love, Will Behrens, were united in a civil union by a Navy Chaplain at a military base in New Jersey

This month the military, specifically the Pentagon, celebrated gay pride of members of the U. S. Military. Who could have predicted how supportive the military establishment has become of gay & lesbians in our armed forces? Not I, but I'm delighted to see it.
