Probably best to start a new thread with that question. But I will say this - is there a difference? Are hate crimes not designed to terrorise? Are acts of terrorism not hate crimes? What, other than hate, can motivate such inhumanity?

No GB you are fully right - there is no difference. But as I can read in our papers (in the net today) the politics makes this difference. A "hate-crime" is it, so the papers, if he only wanted to kill gays because he felt revulsion against them. An "act of terror" is it, if he wanted to kill from political or religious reasons. And so from this reason they will search for instigators. And perhaps the FBI will make a find.

But you are right - whatever reasons he has had - it was an hate-crime.

There are unconfirmed reports that he shouted "britain first" before the attack, whether this was a general comment about the work she did regarding Syria, Oxfam and anti-slavery or if it was a reference to the far right party of the same name is as yet unknown

It is really a shame that the brutalization and violence in our society will grow and grow. These persons are mentally ill, they are not able to argue out their different opinions as with violence.
