In the 70s Jan-Michael Vincent was sex-on-a-stick and didn't mind playing to his numerous gay fans, as evidence by his several appearances in After Dark magazine. He was as talented as he was beautiful - a rare combination - kind of a 70s/80s Montgomery Clift.
But after
Airwolf things didn't come so easily anymore and he seemed to have no way to deal with the inevitable dry spells.
His career and personal life seemed to go downhill. The acting was in low budget projects and the headlines were about drinking, drugs, rehab, restraining orders, and beating wives and girlfriends. He had permanent damage to his neck and vocal chords from multiple car crashes. At some point late in life his right leg was amputated, and he used a prosthetic or a wheel chair. Oddly, he died on February 10, but it wasn't reported until today (March 8).
