I'm sure many porn actors (straight, bi or gay) are on Viagra, Cialis or similar medications. Maintaining rock solid erections for hours doesn't always come naturally, and some of those stars shoot their own home videos several times a week (and post them on OnlyFans or elsewhere). They may be in good health, eat well, exercise... But I'm sure it takes them something to ensure rock solid erections every time.

And many of them are now on Truvada (prEP). In their case, since they have so many partners and often have bareback/condomless sex, I'd say it's a very good idea. But I can't help worrying about the toll all those strong meds/drugs may have on one's body when taken everyday or several times a week for not only months but years after years.

All the side effects are listed on the manufacturers' websites:

I still think those are great drugs, but I wish they were all natural. There are natural alternatives to Viagra such as all herbal pills known as "herbal Viagra".

Some of those are really good since, just like Viagra, they increase blood flow to the penis chambers. Some of them even increase testosterone levels. Are any of you on any of those pills mentioned? How do they work for you and make you feel?

-:) Until today I'll get a boner without any pills. But for sure: I cannot hold a stiff cock for longer than I'll spurt. And after it I have to wait and need a break until I'm ready again. But as I've said: until now this is regulated by my own body and not by some pills.

And when I watch a porn movie and see all the models with such really rock hard boners for so long - it is my opinion too that this is possible only with chemical help. And these "help" for a very, very long time cannot be good for them or their bodies.

But in this job it is the risk of these models - so as the soldier has the risk to die .

I don't know specifically about Truvada, but I know that Viagra can interact badly with certain other medications, including some HIV drugs. Also it shouldn't be taken by anyone with heart or circulation problems, at least not without discussing it with a health professional. When you think about what Viagra does, i.e. divert blood from certain areas of the body to certain others, that should not be a surprise.

As for "herbal Viagra", just because something is naturally occurring does not mean it cannot cause harm. A case in point is St John's Wort, which is a flower. Extract from this has been used for centuries and is thought to help with both depression and with wound healing; however unfortunately it has a bad interaction with some other drugs, including some heart medications and some antiretroviral drugs. Again, let your doctor know what drugs you are already taking (including so-called "natural remedies") before they prescribe other drugs. If you don't tell the doctor, they are not going to know.

A lot of what we see in porn -- like in mainstream movies -- is a result of editing, time/stage management, logistics, and many other skills. Mainstream movies aren't filmed in sequence and any given sequence could be shot many times -- for camera angles, lighting, sound recording levels, flubs, equipment malfunction, and so on.

There's a lot of just standing around on a movie set! A friend of mine works in TV/movies, and I was lucky enough to visit some sets and soundstages. A lot of coffee drinking, too; craft services (caterers) provide generally excellent food and damn fine coffee.

There are behind-the-scenes pornos out there, and it happens like that on those sets, too. I would guess, though, that there is some "better living through chemistry" happening on the porn set. (I do know that {some} male strippers use various pills, techniques, and equipment {cock rings, etc.} to "enhance" their performance. Caverject -- a drug injected straight into the penis to perpetuate and maintain an erection -- being the most common.)

Porn production in California has to provide condoms. If it is a major studio, they probably provide access (or discounted access) to PReP. There are also porn unions; less common in California, though. I just had to look that up, and learned: The only places in the US where it is legal to produce and act in a pornographic production are LA and New Hampshire. We all know it happens elsewhere, too. According to that article -- written by Rachel Hodin on June 7 2013 -- due to regulation in/of the porn industry, it is unlikely that a porn performer would (now) be exposed to HIV on-set and more likely that such exposure would be the result of "extracurricular" activity.

A lot of men in porn get the job for their ability to get and maintain an erection. With it being such a lucrative industry, it's a fair assumption that there is also some help with that, as mentioned above. Every man has a refractory period -- the time between and ejaculation and ability to achieve another erection. That varies from person to person for many reasons: genetics, age, physical/mental health, diet, frequency of activity/ejaculation, along with "no one knows why." The refractory period could last from several minutes to days -- and no amount to stimulation can change a guy's "programming." We've all experienced the sensation after orgasm/ejaculation, when the penis is just too sensitive. The penis could also experience damage, internal and external, should it be overstimulated or overused, particularly in this phase. These porn actors are cash cows -- should that be cash bulls? -- for the porn producer, who should be looking after their investment.

So, compared to mainstream movies and a lot of standing around -- on a porn set, there's probably a lot of guys just "hanging" around.

Let's get down to the gist of this. There is no negative interaction between Truvada and Viagra. You can check the manufacturers sites and also drugs dot com to look that up.

But your best source is always your pharmacist. They are constantly training to keep their knowledge current on what goes with what. That is a good reminder especially this week with the tragic news of Tom Petty's death due to consequences of taking multiple medications. (Very similar to Heath Ledger.) Remember, just because a doctor has prescribed something, that doesn't mean it is safe to take it with other medications. Always ask your pharmacist about any new medication and tell them what else you are taking. They know more about drugs than your doctor.

Interesting to note what does have bad side effects with Truvada is taking Advil (ibuprofen). There is also a minor interaction with Tylenol (acetaminophen) and Xanax (alprazolam).

That's interesting considering some adult stars are always fucking! Michael Lucas and Frankie Quinn, for instance. They're always fucking—several times a week!

I'd recommend (for non-porn stars) using different types of herbal Viagra first, and if truly necessary, the chemical one.
