Do you guys know of any TV shows that are about gay characters or gay themes? And any website about gay films (not porn). I'd appreciate it. By the way, great web, keep the job up and company!!
The original version of Queer As Folk was from the UK and ran for one long and one short series. A US version was produced for the Showtime pay-tv channel and ran for several seasons (5?)
The US has two major gay networks - Here TV and Logo. Here has done several gay series and some good movies including the Donald Strechy mystery series. I think there were four of these movies starring Chad Allen as a gay detective. There's also a gay vampire show called the Lair.
I don't think Logo has any original drama series, it's mainly comedy shows and gay-themed movies they've picked up from hollywood. If you dig around the forum here I'm sure you can find plenty to watch.
"Noah's Arc" was on Logo and that had gay characters on it. Other than the ones previously mentioned, another great character was Marco Del Rossi from the TV show, "Degrassi: The Next Generation". He was introduced in season 2 and had one of the most interesting and truthful story lines about a gay youth; including his first relationship, a gay bashing and a break-up story that truly pulled at your heartstrings... it pretty much dwindled off in the middle of season six and he appeared sporadically after that, but I would highly recommend it if you haven't seen them.
And yes, Hyp; the US version of "Queer as Folk" was five seasons long.
There's a website that lists tv programming of interest to the gay community in the USA. It's listings are a bit general/broad, but if you're in the USA it can be helpful in finding programming that might interest you.
there is also Will and Grace, Glee, Dantes Cove, Melrose place, True blood, Skins (season 1 and 2... Maxxie- Sigh ), Ugly Betty and probably a zillion more...
As The World Turns (Luke, Noah, Reid, and Hank who was in the past). One Life To Live (Kyle and Fish). Verbotene Liebe (Christian and Olli). I wish there were more to be had. Take care! Myles
Luke and Noah are still there, but the story has Luke and Noah not together as Luke has found a new man named Reid. They will be there to the end of the shows run. If there is any more info, I will pass it on to you.
Neighbours is set to reveal its first regular gay male character. Chris Pappas (played by 20yr-old James Mason), a fairly new addition to the cast at Ramsey Street, will come out as gay in an episode airing this week.
Last week’s episodes and a promo for the show hinted at the upcoming storyline and the revelation of a ‘secret’.
The iconic Australian drama which is one of the country’s biggest cultural exports, has featured a few short-term gay characters in the show before.
The first gay character to appear on the show was builder Andrew MacKenzie (played by John Morris) back in 1994. Then in 1995 schoolteacher Andrew Watson (played by Chris Uhlman) became a victim of student rumours and a campaign for his dismissal as a teacher by parents, for being gay. Other characters hinting at queer identity included hairdresser and musical theatre lover Gino (played by Shane McNamara).
However, the new gay storyline featuring teenage character Chris Pappas will be the first time in the show’s 25 year history that it will feature an ongoing regular gay character.

depending on you age there are way too much to even list. I particular like the ones with the younger demographic. Aside from the many already listed there is : Shameless (on going soap in the UK with Ian being the gay protagonist), Fisica o Quimica (a soap in spain with Fer being the gay protagonist), Skins ( now 4 seasons long, first two had Maxie (mitch Hewer) as the gay protagonist, second 2 seasons had Emily as the gay protagonist). Spangas (i think its a dutch show, features twins in which one of them is gay).
P.S. all of the above can be found on Youtube. Except Skins..but a bit of digging and you'll find on google.
