UK Age verification for pornographic websites

Will sites that don't comply be censored like torrent sites or what? And how will it affects sites like Gay Heaven, because I would not sign up to a lot of sites if I had to give something over that would verify my age like a Credit Card Number to access even free content.

To me this is an attack on civil liberties. If I go looking for porn, it's no ones right to prevent me or ask for anything that could be used to identify or track me.

For example. Here I can ask a wider audience questions I would only be comfortable discussing with one or two people, and participating in conversations that could cause offence.

I do agree that it's too easy for children to access adult material, but I'm not sure how it would work as it's very easy to 'borrow' Mum or Dads detail, be it credit car, driving license, for a few seconds to access an adult site.

Facebook is supposed to be for people over 13, but that's certainly not enforced and I can't see how it can be enforced.

I have a feeling this is going to end up as one of those 'unenforceable' things as not everyone has a CC, or a driving license or a passport etc. Not sure I would really want to enter those details given the number of supposedly 'secure' site which have been hacked recently.

It's more productive to teach "sex education" properly to young people than restricting them access to whatever out there in an effort to supposedly protect them.

I saw porn mags at a yng age older brother sneaked them up in the attic of our house where he and I looked at them a lot--he would talk about how hot these women looked naked and all I was fascinated with wasn't in the mag--boys will be boys and girls are just as curious about their body just start year or so later than boys--it happens and nothing will change it--I have posted stories here about my sexual beginnings and not ashamed of it at all--if gonna blame anyone I guess blame it on whoever your god is for making the body change at a young age--curiousity will always be there no matter what laws are made to stop from happening--

I agree. I just wouldn't trust many sites with identifiable information. Especially in this day and age. In Scotland we have seen people commit suicide because of blackmail already.

I'm just wondering, the sites that let you see the visitor stats(mainly Blogs and chat sites). The UK visitors seem to be very highly ranked considering the 'visitors per capita' and the UK's population compared to the USA, China, Russia.

Given theses sites will have to introduce some form of AVS(Age verification system) or be banned, and the potential loss of UK visitors. Will they only deliver an AVS to UK visitors or will the restriction just be implemented for all visitors. I could see sites implementing AVS if it gives them greater opportunity to collect market data or heading off possible law suits, for not restricting access no minors when they already do for a different jurisdiction.

In the end, I am an adult, who pays for their internet access and it is my right and responsibility to decide what I access. No one else's. I do understand the necessity at times like when I had my brother and more precisely my nephews staying. And they were accessing the internet through my connection. I implemented my own security. Using OpenDNS I restricted access to many sites and logged all DNS requests coming from my IP address. Perhaps education of the account holder is more necessary, instead of just letting them plug in a router and letting kids have at the internet.

unfortunately everything that's a topic nearly becomes a political debate or a religious one--- politics and government think its their job to stick their noses in everything no matter how minoot it is..laws have been made to keep underage people from accessing various things like porn but the thing is if a teen wants it he or she will find a way to get it--I don't make the rules I just know its a fact--things were kept from me when I was a kid/teen that I knew wasn't allowed for me to have and others do it to whether it be cigarettes pot beer snuff --as a teen we all figure its our job to find a way to get it and prove those wrong that said we cant have it--and it pisses me off when people do this when young then as get older they bitch and whine about it being easy and accessible to kids/teens today like they never did it when they were young --that's bullshit in my opinion

Really it was not my "bad intention" to tease anyone here or wherever. But please don't make out of every word a political thing. We don't live in North Korea but in a free world and from this reason it MUST be allowed from time to time to express a critical remark and that without the danger to be punished for it.

This was not a political remark but only my personal opinion and I haven't had the intention to tease or to insult or to attack any person - no moderator, no member - no one!

When I was a kid, booze, cigarettes, and weed were easy to get... But porn, that I had to work for...

Today all the little bastards need is an internet connection. So why shouldn't they have to work as hard as I did to get their jollies?
