Here in Britain the devil is Tesco, and Walmart (Asda) is almost cast in the role of underdog. Same sort of thing happens - take Baldock, a small town north of London, where a Tesco Extra (ie a big one) was built just on the edge of the centre of town. Result? Nothing much left in the centre but cafes and estate agents.
