Lunar Eclipse Live Event 10th December 2011
Stargazers across the globe are looking skywards for a total lunar eclipse this Saturday, when the Earth will cast its shadow over the moon.
The second of the year, today's total eclipse will be the last until 2014. Only partial eclipses will be visible until then according to astronomers.
The total eclipse will last 51 minutes eight seconds.
Skywatchers in Australia, Asia and North America will have the best view and should be able to see the Moon turn red indirect sunlight lights up the surface.
The shadow is scheduled to start falling at 11:33 GMT and will fully lift by 17:30 GMT.
