Not necessarily !! If the parties were sensible they'd come to an agreement to let the largest party govern in a limited way for a short while in the national interest.
It's also not impossible that the Tories & LibDems could come to an alliance of sorts on a case by case basis. Nick Clegg has stated again just now that the largest party has the biggest right to govern. That is only right ! Labour have lost, even though the Tories haven't won, but they have lost more than they have in about 80 years! We know Brown and his cronies would like to cling on by their fingernails but that won't do them any favours if they try that. Nor would it have done any favours to the Liberals if he'd automatically backed them, being the biggest losers and effectively being thrown out by the electorate.
As for the students and the polling station mess that was utterly ridiculous. As someone said last night we oversee other countries to make sure they have fair elections and here we are with third world style voting!! Very badly organised. The students apparently turned up en masse without voting cards so it took longer to process them.
There is a law that nobody can vote after 10pm regardless, even though some returning officers did allow an extra half hour, which was actually against the rules but understandable. The worst situation was the polling station that actually ran out of voting slips thus depriving many people of voting!! How the hell is that possible?? In another case the voting list wasn't updated so although on the electoral register people were turned away and not allowed to vote!!
An interesting election, but in many ways a complete mess !
For the record, although I voted for what I personally consider the lesser of all evils for the country I don't like or trust any one of them very much. All singing the same song with slightly different tunes!
