Oh boy. I remember this song being on top of the singles charts for about 8 weeks in Melbourne at the time of its release. More than just a hit song, for me it almost symbolises that entire period in popular music, as well as summing up the hippie culture.

The interesting thing is, Scott McKenzie was never actually part of that culture and was not considered as such by the Haight-Ashbury crowd.
