It's really confusing me, while my country here really doesn't accept GLBT. My dream is to be a singer (and now I'm about to be an Christian gospel singer), and I just thought when I reached that dream, I had to give up my "gay love" (maybe marry a woman, or not being married in my entire life, beside I have to hide the truth as being a gay).

How do you think, guys? Is it possible for GLBT to be an successful artist (singer, actor, actress, or else)

Many are and have always been. Even if it means hiding a certain side to you it shouldn't stop you - you can have both!

Back in the 1950s & 60s when it wasn't so open in the western world many actors and singers were gay, now not many care very much, but back then people like Rock Hudson or Tab Hunter would probably not have been as succesful if they had revealed everything.

the only person you are lying to is yourself--in some religions eyes it doesnt matter if you try to lead a str8 life that even though on the outside you are str8 but on the inside you are gay--and god sees this you cant lie to yourself-i myself dont like religion--if i did i would be ready for hell--satan accepts me for who i am--then isnt it funny how good v/s evil heaven versus hell--exists--in the name of god--in christianity god created a place and put lucifer there creating hell so isnt it god creating the evil upon the land--looks like it to me

First of all, thank you guys, cause you really give me support, but I cannot do some advice you gave. Especially Xmen101's, It think that's the difference between western and eastern, especially in my country where the people are really2 religious (or I must say, they think they're religious but they aren't to me).

There had been a GLBT conference a few months ago in my city, but many people (the religious organization, not Christian) were held a protest against it. They thought (and sometimes treat) GLBT like we are so disgusting. Maybe surprise you, but that's what happened in my country. So I can't imagine what happen when people know about my sexual orientation once I reached my dream as an artist.

We shouldn't have to hide anything.

Not... That simple, not everyone have the same reality, I guess the best bet for him would be to start his gospel career till he can afford to just run away from his place and start over, so he can be who he really is after having lived his dream, even if a little, just in case he cant go back to singing on his new place... Takes time, I know, but waiting a bit is better than never let it happen, eh?

Unfortunately, its not an easy thing to come out gay and be a popular mainstream singer. People are still not as accepting of entertainers being gay. I have dated a couple of guys who are in the entertainment industry and one guys is doing extremely well in the industry while the other still has a good fanbase. The thing is that they are not out of the closet publicly because they both are well liked by the female population especially the latter one. I did gain their trust and I have revealed to anyone their sexual orientation because I feel that is something that is something that should come from them, not me. The relationship caused a strain on all parties involved. Not to go into full detail..take my word for it...it was a lot of pressure...With that being said, I have to say that I understand why a lot of entertainers have not came out of the closet as of yet, especially if they are still much in demand. There are some who have reaped a lot of popularity and opportunities since coming out such as Ellen, Neil Patrick, etc. but everyone is not as lucky as they were. So, I agree with Askani, get as much of the career as you possibly can before acknowledging that you are gay, and that way you have established a comfortable life for yourself. Good luck...
