Here we go again!

The Environment Agency (ARSO) has issued the highest, red alert this morning for the northern parts of Slovenia, as heavy rainfall is expected there today that could cause major floods. There are concerns about what will happen in the landscape reshaped by the floods (3 wks ago) where rivers or other watercourses may be unpredictable...

In addition, in the eastern parts of the country is a big chance of hailstorms or windstorms due to warmer air.

Well it's been a crazy summer hasn't it? Currently not that bad here in Uk but weatherman forecasting max 17 and min 9 deg next day or two - crap temperatures for August. And have you seen the reports about hurricane force winds and storms around the Med? Maybe this same system is heading your way?

Frigging laptop went all blue screen on me GRRRRRR!!! So I've had to do a full reset of Windows then re-install all apps; antivirus; media players; K-lite Codec packs etc etc

I should have been in town 10 mins ago so it's going to be a day of "running late"

Yeah, I'm getting things back up and running thanks, just a few annoying things to put right - like resetting the bloody folder options and wallpapers; screen themes etc Glad I could resolve it with a "re-install Windows but KEEP all your files and folders" as only yesterday I spliced about 50 new pics for the Hot Celebs vs Cats thread and hadn't backed them up and there were a couple of movies too, d/loaded to the laptop but not backed up - including Gran Tourismo !! I've just re-loaded Microsoft Office and only have a few other apps to get. One glitch is I cannot get back to my albums on PimpHost but I think that's a issue at their end not mine.

No worries- I have it and ALL my files and folders. Happily I was sucessful in doing the partial re-set where WIN 10 is re-installed, but without it wiping any files. If that had not worked then I would have had to do a complete wipe of the drive, loosing everything that wasn't backed up. I usually do a back-up once every 3 to 4 weeks.... I think I might start doing it a little more often.

Just found another big problem - since re-installing everything the method I used for grabbing movies has stopped working. I just went to get The Burial and somehow it's been blocked. I hope I can work around it.

I managed to work out what was happening. Although it was perfectly happy with it before the re-set Mal3warebyte5 has now decided it doesn't like Saf3-Watch.n3t so I've had to list it on the Malewarebyte5 "Exemption" list meaaning that it doesn't block me from using it anymore.

Even stranger the new re-installed Malwarebyt3s blocked the 0pera browser telling me it was potentially dangerous. Well I guess it might be if you use it to access the "wrong kind" of site but to block a browser is crazy.

later edit: Having done a search on this there are several reports over the last few years that M.bytes has a tendency to flag up VPNs so it looks like it's not me using Opera that it doesn't like but that I'm using their VPN. Interestingly others also reported what I found on Fri & Sat that it was inconsistent and that at times it would block access and other times be happy to permit access.

Another thing to think about is passwords. We all get used to our Edge or Chrome browser etc saving passwords for us but a re-set means that you loose them all. So however you back these up, a paper list or a password manager etc make sure that is always updated when you have new passwords or change a password. I had joined a couple of sites since I last backed up my passwords and on Friday I had to click on their "Forgotten your password?" prompt and wait for them to e.mail me with the link to get a new password.
