All spectator sports bore me to tears (with the possible exception of gymnastics, and then I don't care if it's boys or girls--they're all too young to be on my sexual radar)

Growing up, my sports loving father got us (he and I) season tickets to all the local (Los Angeles (California) pro and collegiate teams. God how I hated those damned games. Eventually I began taking books to read during the game and would only look up during the half time shows. My father was not happy about this since the games were supposed to be a "bonding" thing and I was having none of it. When we moved to a small town in Southern Oregon, I was finally off the hook.

An earlier commenter mentioned that a sport you actually play can be interesting to you because you know the skills required to be good at it. I guess that's why a classical piano recital can hold me riveted--I was a piano major in college. An ex of mine described opera as my "sport" because I pointed out so many crucial "plays" in teaching him to appreciate it.

I gotta disagree on that one. First (and only ) time I saw curling was in the Winter Olympics. I was hooked. I thought it was riveting. If there was some kind of league around here I'd join. (Nearest curling is probably in New Brunswick, Canada or something)

Speaking of the Winter Olympics, most of those sports are pretty good for spectators. All the ice competitions, the big ski races, the Biathalon, the halfpipe competition, the aerialists, to name a few are extremely exciting to watch.

The only sports I really DO like are generally winter sports. I much prefer winter olympics to the regular one.
I used to find cricket stupidly boring, but my dads forced me to watch it enoguh for me to have SOME interest in it.

To me, football is the worst sport. I have no idea why ANYONE would like that sport.

Couldn't agree more - maybe it's the physicist in me, but I find it absolutely fascinating! I'd really love to give it a go.

American Football, just for the simple fact that for one hour of game play, there's three hours of nothing but guys standing around scratching their asses, and what with all the padding and helmets, there's not even any eye candy to keep you interested...

Golf, is there anything more boring to watch?

Tennis, again BORING!

NASCAR/Indy racing, just driving around in circles in machines the barely even resemble cars. You pry for an accident just so there's something interesting to watch. It was so much better in the old days when drivers raced real cars, they didn't bring them in on trailers they drove them to the track and then drove them home after the race...

I love to watch...

Gymnastics (male), being a former gymnast myself, I understand it well, gymnast have the best bodies, and it's great when you can see all the muscles at work...

Wrestling (college) the most basic of athletic competition and plenty of eye candy, especially on the sidelines after the match is over when they strip to the waist...

Swimming/diving, speedos, eye candy galore, never gets boring...

Rugby and Ice Hockey, just for the sheer physicality of the games...

definitely not .. totally mind numbing .. at least other sports (male or female) usually have some candy for the eyes even if they may bore you otherwise

Anyone can be bored watching a sport in which they have no interest. That interest could be either the game itself or the physical appearance of the players. Admittedly, golf does not offer nearly as much eye candy as other sporting events, but if one uses a little fantasy of the mind, it can work - if you are attracted to the guy teeing up. I've checked out college golf tournaments on cable - and there are some hot young men out on the links who wear clothing tight enough to make for some pleasurable viewing.
