This may sound mushy to some, but recently, I saw a movie where a woman was abused so badly by someone she really loved and left for dead after the incident. After years of physical therapy and counseling, she defied the odds of her doctors who had informed her that if she did not die from the abuse of the incident because of the damages that were projected from it, that she will never have a normal life again and would be considered as a paraplegic for the rest of her life. What I found interesting is that during one of her therapy sessions, she had mentioned to the clinician that she would like to see her attacker/ex-friend again to confront him and to receive closure from this meeting in order for her to allow her to live her life again. Unfortunately, her clinician told her that although she could understand the pretenses behind her closure statement, however, she did not see this happening. What was surprising is that a few years later while out shopping, she accidentally ran into this guy who was stunned to see her as well as she. He did approached her very carefully, and asked if he could speak with her. With tears running down his face, he apologized for his actions as well as the way he hurt her and ruined their relationship. He also mentioned how he tried his best to resume his life and bury the incident between them in the back of his mind but somehow, whenever he heard a certain song or went to sleep, he would always think of her. This has caused him to also not be able to have a solid relationship with someone else as well. After he finished speaking, she shared with him what she had endured and how she had wished to have this meeting after getting her life back in order to receive closure on the issue. He cried so more and begged for her forgiveness which she accepted. As she walked away, a feeling of completeness came over her and she felt at that moment that she could conquer the world and feel alive to open herself up to be able to love someone unconditionally again. After watching this, I decided that this would be my super thrill to have someone from my past who betrayed me unnecessarily to do the same.
