Funny, a similiar question came up on a British tech message board I hang on. The statement made was 'I'd sort the house out' I was baffled by what that mean't. So although we American's know 'arse', we don't know what "sort it out" means.
Also just why do so many Brits go to, or dream of going to Florida? There sure are a lot of UK tourists there. I often have to work out of Florida, and the Sunshine state is probably the last place I'd ever voluntarily go.

Pay all of my debts off, buy a home for myself, cars, take care of immediate family and friends, and vacation. I would also donate to causes to help.
I've never understood Florida's appeal either.
I went on a two-week fly-drive holiday with a guy I was besotted with. The first three or four days were spent in Orlando because he wanted to do Disney. I was bored shitless after about an hour. God, I hated Disney and I hated Orlando.
Moved on to Tampa. I liked it more than Orlando. He hated it. A theme began to emerge. By the start of week 2, I'd simply had enough of him and he'd had enough of me. I hired a car and headed for Miami. He drove straight back to Disney! We met up again at Orlando airport for the flight home and parted for good at Heathrow baggage reclaim.

^I agree about Florida's lack of appeal.
I spent about a year and a half in Orlando, Florida. U.S. Navy boot camp, followed by A School and Nuclear Power School. On the initial flight in for boot camp, there was a glorious sunset out the window of the plane, but after that great first impression, it was all down hill!
I would buy some acreage in Washington State, perhaps with a view of the ocean, definitely forest and mountain views. On that property (10 acres minimum) I would have a fairly modest stone cottage built, and I would buy a 1969 Mustang Boss 429 and some modern, practical, 4wd vehicle for everyday getting around in snow/mud/whatever. Nice furniture. Other than the house and land, the biggest single expense would be Kef Muon loudspeakers ($140,000/pair) powered by Bryston electronics. Yes, there's more expensive equipment out there, but not necessarily better.
I'd pay off some family mortgages, set up a family trust, and live pretty modestly for the most part other than a few expensive toys. I would probably do some traveling with my mother (throughout Canada, Ireland, Scotland, England, Wales for her, as she's always wanted to travel through those countries), and some trips on my own to China, France, Italy, Germany, Russia, Greece (I would take the archaeology Grand Tour of the Mediterranean), Egypt (well, maybe. They're very anti-gay, so I wouldn't go without a couple of bodyguards!). I would love to see Victoria Falls, Cape Town, and a number of other places in Africa, but I'm not sure about the health risks (exotic insects, spiders, tropical ailments and all scare the hell out of me! :blushing: ).
I've been to about half of the United States, and visited Toronto, Canada, ages ago. In the Navy I was in Hong Kong for two weeks (loved it with a passion), Singapore for one week, Perth, Australia (well, the ship was off Freemantle, really, and we were ferried in) for a week, and countless visits to Dubai during a total of a year in the Persian Gulf region. Since I was on a nuclear aircraft carrier, we didn't pull into port all that much compared to a lot of smaller vessels. So a bit of travel would be nice with some lottery winnings.

For an outdoor type Florida has no appeal. No mountains, uninteresting hiking, overcrowded and noisy beaches, anti-bicycle car culture. There's a little bit of history in Ste Augustine and Key West. Or Jacksonville for the music scene. There's little southern culture despite Florida being the most geographically southern. Its in fact a northern state. Its inhabited by zillions of retirees and northern expatriates. In order to experience 'southern' culture you have to travel north into Georgia, or maybe north Florida/Jacksonville or the panhandle.
Whenever I go down there I only run into people from up north. Rarely a Florida native. There's a lot of poverty and a lot of racial friction . Kinda segregated state. The whites live on the coasts.
If you wanna go there see Key West, or Ste Augustine, or Sarasota. Skip Orlando if at all possible. The city is a huge ugly zit. (nice airport though).
Besides Key West, There is one outrageous place for gay guys, The Parliment House in Orlando. Its a big entertainment complex/gay resort. A bunch of bars, restaurants, a big old fashioned motel. Safe place for gay guys on the edge of the city. No tourists go there - mostly walled off from the outside . I believe there is only one way in. The place cultivates an image of tackiness which is kinda fun. Lots of drag queens, leather guys, drag shows, bears, pretty much everything. Guys sit in their motel room with the door open, their dicks out and the curtain open.

I'm a sucker for traveling to new places and learning about different cultures. I wanna open a restaurant like a lil bistro or something small like that since I'm a great cook but my bf is against that lol. He was once in that business, too much stress lol. Definitely get a house, have two dogs and two cats, do some charity work, and help out family members. I wanna open a bathhouse lol, but I think that would just be a fantasy because that requires too much explanation to the family and friends .

I completely agree with you there, i'm not a lucky person when it comes to this kinda stuff. But, you know, the question is what if you win, so just be a lil dreamy for a bit

pay off all the debts and the mortgage, new vehicle, give away a good sum to charities that actually help people, help out family, and then retire somewhere to enjoy whatever I want to do without worry.
