fresh caught catfish fried with tempura breading with a salad made of home grown black Russian tomatoes, fried okra and green fried tomatoes with a side of hush puppies.
Hi this will not be something what I will eat of have eaten. But it is your word "corn" which remembered me a story I've heard some weeks ago.
In 1945 the Americans occupied Bavaria. And there as well in a small town the American Commanding Officer asked the German mayor what he needs mostly for his citizens. And he said: "Wir brauchen Korn" (we need "corn").
And the Americans deliverd "Corn" - which nearly unleashed a revolution. The protesters cried "Wir sind doch keine Schweine" (we aren't pigs!)
Well what happened. The German word "Korn" means "wheat" and the English word "Corn" means in German "Mais".
And alltoghether it was a simple "misunderstanding"

In Swedish it's "majs" and I wonder if it isn't "maïs" in Spanish too, at least in Latin American Spanish - and they really should know since the types of maïs suitable for human food was invented by the ancient people of Middle America (Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Belize etc), people like the Maya.

I fully understand what you are speaking of. But think it was 1945 in a small Bavarian town. And "Mais" was unknown there as human food. It was for them to that time nothing more than pig feed. And many of them not even have known "Mais". And do you believe they would have heard there from ancient people in Middle America or from the Maya? In the meantime I'll hope they have learned!
Glazed Pork Roast with Carrots, Celery, Garlic, Onions, Potatoes, and Mushrooms. I made a nice Brown Gravy with the left over juices, but I made too much. I've been eating it for the last 2 days! LOL
I had a Jack's brand Mexican Pizza. It's an OK inexpensive brand. It's only a $3.50 frozen pizza. It's definitely NOT Pizza Hut. lol. And then for dessert I had a couple slices of Pumpkin Pie with a bowl of whipped cream.
