An English series from 2021: CRIME

When an Edinburgh schoolgirl is abducted DI Ray Lennox, due to his own traumatic past, identifies strongly with the victim. He believes the murderer is the serial killer Mister Confectioner. But his bosses believe Confectioner is behind bars. Lennox's insistence that they have the wrong man puts him not just in conflict with his bosses, but also onto the radar of Confectioner himself. So the detective is drawn into a cat and mouse game with the killer.

Very recommended! I hope that we can watch soon here as well season 2

For the umphteenth time I'm re-watching one of the best TV series ever made: Brideshead Revisited from 1981 with among other actors Jeremy Irons, Anthony Andrews ,John Gielgud, Laurence Olivier and Diana Quick. It’s just so damn good!!!

EVACUATION

A facinating 3 part documentary on C4 here in UK about the evacuation of UK nationals from Kabul in 2021 as the taliban approached then entered the city. What makes it a compelling watch is that much of the program is film taken by the military and interviews with the people that were there, on the ground, at the time. So there are accounts from evacuees and the military personnel, both seniors such as Lieutenant Colonels and Wing Commanders but also the young privates in the Paratroop regiment, some of whom had never seen "action" before and suddenly found themselves having to make decisions as to who gets flown out - and who is refused.

I have no idea if senior military or the Ministry Of Defence had any control over what they could say on camera and what video could be shown, maybe they were partial censored? I don't know. But some of it is harrowing stuff, and not an easy watch. I had planned to watch the first episode then watch a movie but as soon as it finished I went straight on to Part 2 and will definitely be watching the final part today. Gripping stuff.

EVACUATION

I have just watched the 3rd part of this documentary and as part of it covers the suicide bomber in the crowd which resulted in the deaths of 13 american marines and 174 civilians it wasn't an easy watch but I do recommend watching all 3 if you can. Thought provoking stuff.

SLøBORN

A tense gripping drama. Filmed before Covid-19 hit the planet Sløborn first aired on television in Germany in the midst of the pandemic, with its chilling similarities to the real catastrophe and it's now available on the Channel4/All4 streaming service here in the UK

The story sees a disease similar to bird flu discovered in China, which rapidly spreads across the wider world before eventually reaching an island situated between Germany and Denmark. The residents are initially unaware of the threat it poses, but soon find their lives thrown into chaos....

2 episodes in - so far so good.

I just got done with a Netflix documentary form 2015 called "Hot Girls Wanted." No, I've not gone crazy, or straight. The six-episode show examines the world of amateur porn, interviewing people in front of, and behind, the cameras. Some of the stories are insightful, some are sad, others give you a different perspective on the whole industry. Granted, it is somewhat old (in porn-years) and is prior to the rise of 0nlyF*ns . Some of the male talent interviewed are still active in the industry (admittedly, I don't know about the women). I do highly recommend the series.

SLøBORN

So I binge watched the rest of the series, on the whole a good show with some surprising end stories for one or two of the main characters and some storylines left hanging.....

... BUT when trying to find a YTube trailer without any of the kids in (not possible - hence no clip) I saw there was a trailer for Series 2 so maybe those questions will get answered there?

HEARTSTOPPER Series 2

So bailing out early on tonight's movie meant I had time to start on the continuing story of Nick & Charlie. It's just as sweet; bittersweet and charming as the 1st series but as yet it hasn't grabbed me quiet as much as the 1st one - but I'm only 2 episodes in with 6 more to go.
