Who's your hero?

Mine has to be Julia Child. Hands down. Not just because she was a chef like me but because she wasn't afraid of her food. It wasn't low fat this and no sugar that. It was just real food from real ingredients. I mean she ate french cooking and beef and fat and sugar and she was by no means over weight. She was always learning up to the very end. She has this idea of using real ingredients but remembering portion control. I think she embodied the idea of what cooking should be.

So who is your hero?

Man this is tough, my answer could change on any given day but right now Stanley Kubrick is coming to mind.

Our local public tv station featured some interesting women in that day (the 70s). Julia Child on cooking, Thalassa Cruso on gardening. Women who lived within convention, but didn't let convention stop them. I've had decades of gardening pleasure with Thalassa as my first guide.

My real heroes are people who attempt big things against big odds, and hang in there through the rough spots. Obamacare is having a very rough rollout. There's lots of blame and lots of fingerpointing. It will certainly tarnish the Obama legacy. But Obama and his crew are absorbing the hits, trying to make the program work, and in the end... a lot of people who were shut out of medical care will have a shot.

So who is your hero?

Did you know that she was also a spy during WWII?

She was the highest ranking woman in the OSS and every piece of intelligence concerning the Pacific theater passed through her hands...

Talk about living in a bubble. Destruction of Obamacare is the announced
reason for being of the conservatives and the admin did not lessen that by
being seemingly careless about the rollout. To me that is as reckless as
Bill Clinton receiving a blow job from Monica when he fully knew that that
was all the conservatives were waiting for.
