Why does anyone use Rapidgator?

Why bother with Rapidgator? I've found it to be one of the worst file lockers around. They make you wait at least 120 min. between downloads (it actually seems like a lot more than 2 hours---more like 3 or 4 hours, I'd say). And then when you are finally allowed to download, you have to wait up to 180 secs before the captcha appears. By that time you've forgotten about it, but if you fail to answer the captcha the moment it appears, you will get an "error, wrong captcha, time expired" message and the 2- to 4-hour wait period kicks in again.

Then if you are ever so lucky to actually download anything there, Rapidgator's download speeds are among the absolute slowest around. I only use it for tiny files anymore. Not worth waiting 7 or 8 hours or more for regular-sized files.

Rapidgator treats free users so abominably, i wouldn't trust their premium service for any price! Even if premium members were treated 10 times better than free users, the service would still be total crap.

I don't undestand why so many uploaders use Rapidgator. Gluttons for punishment? I know all the obstacles are supposed to inspire people to buy premium, but I suspect the only thing it inspires free users to do is run as fast as possible in the other direction.

As a free user you are at the mercy of every site. I finally bought a premium on RG because so many uploaders use RG. Premium on RG is usually much faster and the membership fee (at least for 3 months) is cheap. You also get multiple simultaneous downloads. Don't buy more--these guys have a way of going belly up! Zippy is the only one that seems to work for free. All the others work for me as you describe. I'm in NE US, sometimes that (location) seems to make a difference.

Anyway, try a premium. It will change how you look at the situation.

I agree with your assessment of RG free - it totally sucks! I wasn't able to download a complete file EVER! I did bite the bullet and purchase a premium account and for me it has worked quite well for well over a year now - probably close to 2 yrs. IMO it is well worth the cost as it is used by a lot of uploaders and I consistently get high download speeds. With the high level of frustration emanating from your message, a premium account sounds like the way to go!

I never could get RG to work for free, so I bought a membership. It wasn't a whole lot better....

I WAS a premium member for a year

and was treated like crap during the entire time. I have a 100 plus emails to them complaining about low speed downloads, download pages just not showing up,and many false notices that my "montly 1 terabite limit" had been reached ( which I never, ever downloaded that much). as a result , I had many lost service days while I tried to sort out the problems they were responsible for. :no: I finally had enough of that problem and just quit. ~X( the problem is that they are the major company most people use for their movie posts so if you do not use them it is pretty much a dead issue of who to use for other download companies. I really hope that they change for your sake and that your experience is better than mine.

I used to really hate FilesMonster but I finally got a premium with them and they always work well. Always. It's gotten so I seldom download anything without it. Rapidshare was slow with or without a membership and half the time the downloads would fail.
