We heave heard in one thread here that a former porn-star of Czech has commited suicide because he couldn't find a "real" job in the "real" world.

Well that brought me to the question: would you do that, act as an porn-star?

Are all these porn actors really gay? Or are they doing that only for money because they couldn't find a "normal" job? Are they exploited by the producers which want always "new and fresh faces"?

Would I do this job? Sometimes when I'm looking such a porn I think it would be great to be amongst them! But than I don't know if I really could act if a camera is there and someone gives me orders how to do this or that!

Would you think you could act totally naked in front of a camera with an director who will give you orders how to fuck or to be fucked?

I must admit I'm viewing such porns from time to time because they make me horny. Yes I'm a consumer of such films but I don't think I would do that professionally for money.

But honestly how poor must be these czech boys to do that for money to survive. And if they are "out" the producer let them go because he or better WE are not anymore interested in them, because we want new faces.

People want to see new faces all the time.

I have seen some Czech Porn Stars re appear on screen after a few years out and you do have to think sometimes, "Oh are things that bad for them, and they know they can make easy money selling their ass". it does make me feel sad for them sometimes, but it is also a treat for us if we really like the Dude.

But a actors career can be cut short if the company gets feedback from customers that they are crap. I started a thread off once saying a particular actor never smiled on camera and really put nothing into the scene and of the flood of reply with others saying the same thing. And we never saw that actor again. oops!

I think each of these are true in their respective cirstances.

I really never enjoyed commercial porn the way I enjoy amateur self made videos. I feel that often "the heart" is missing.

I couldn't act as a pornstar I admit and I think that it requires a certain skill: a certain way of turning off a switch in your brain so that you can act out sex - never an easy task by my thoughts.

Porn industry like fashion industry has its perks and costs and it is sad when these costs outweigh the benefits especially in the long run.
And I would definitely not recommend this profession to a friend of mine especially if its the lack of money that's the reason for this choice of profession.

Honestly, no. There's many reasons I don't want to be, including self-conscious in front of a camera and lots of other people, not wanting to be told what I have to do next, and not wanting those images to be public forever.

What if it isn't a choice between working in porn and working in some other stimulating well paid career. What are the choices if you are young and you need to pay your rent. Let's take a walk to the jobcentre shall we. Lots of tempting offers aren't there.
Call centre. Listen to unhappy customers shouting abuse at you all day. Pay; barely minimum wage.
Amazon warehouse. Dehumanised. Treated like a robot on remote control. Pay; barely minimum wage.
Care assistant. Carry old ladies to the toilet and wipe their bottoms afterwards. Pay; below minimum wage.
Or get your cock out and get more cash in an afternoon than you get in a month in jobs like those above. It's not as easy as it looks and your sell by date is never far away but if I was 18 and those were the choices, well look, if I couldn't stomach it, those old ladies bottoms would still be waiting for me.

As long as its a well thought decision that's made under no compulsion, its fine by me whatever means of livelihood any person chooses. But (as Darg points out) if the decision comes out of a constraint then it only shows that the society is not being able to provide its citizens, the amenities its supposed to provide and calls in for a thorough reevaluation of the society as well as self reevaluation of its members.

Well Dargelos - that's again what I mean and asked for.

Why, after the collapse of the iron courtain, such a great porn industry could be established for instance in Czech? So many young guys from the countryside came to Prague in the hope to earn some money what they couldn't earn in their rural villages. Everything there has broken down, no prospect for a useful job, a poor family - so what to do. They came to Prague with the hope of a golden future in in the big city and they found the manhunters of the new established porn industry. These people gave those unsuspecting young guys so much money (much money for them because they never ever had so much before - and for the manhunters only a pocket money!) for showing their cocks. And they did it - why not?! And forgot that with this moment they have been in a machinery from which they would be wrecked!

I for myself would never do such a step - but never I've been in such a need for money to survive. So for me it is only a question of fantasy.

But as I've said before: I'm a consumer of such films as well. Am I guilty in the exploitation or perhaps in the suicide of such boys?

I think you mean amateur porn, do you? Some webcam shows ask for donations others don't ask for money they must just do it for fun. Another factor in the growth of Czech porn was the hard army training leaving the boys with fit bodies. So it was easy for them to get paid for showing off their gorgeous muscles.
It is their own choice whether to save that money or waste it on vodka and cocaine. We never hear again from the actors who put the cash toward a car and a house and return to complete normality, no harm done.

I don't think I could ever do it. A lot of people go into it because they are desperate. Then there are many young people who do it to be rebellious or because they are excited by being "immortalized." Anyone who really wants to go into porn acting needs to have some kind of plan for when their career ends. If they have some business savvy, or can work behind the scenes maybe they can earn a living afterwards. But it's very difficult to earn a living outside of the porn world after you dove in. Unfortunately in North America there is still this puritanical way of thinking that seeks to deny the sexual being in all of us and would just rather keep it in the shadows.
