Would you open a woman's handbag?

Firstly, I will open the thread by congratulating Germany for their outstanding game today! I felt soooooo sorry for the English team. :p

Secondly... a thought. Is it a taboo for you to open, or even touch a woman's handbag. At no point in my life has anyone said to me not to... but it is a taboo in my mind. Men are not allowed to open women's handbags... under any circumstances! Even when a women will ask me to open her bag to get her mobile, or cigarettes, or whatever... I go bright red and just hand the bag over. I would never open the bag myself!

So is it just me...

And another though, does the same taboo apply to man bags?

I agree it feels odd... I think its more to do with the social conditioning that a women's handbag is more of an extension of themselves than it is a separate entity. I can't comment on the taboo of man-bags as I have never seen someone carry a man bag shown in the pictures.

Never have i or intend to open a womans handbag!!
Always i hand the bag over to them and let them get whatever they want themselves out of it... y? not a baboo no.. its simple
THERE BE STRANGE POWERS AND NOISES IN THERE!!
Have u ever seen a woman at a loss or ANYTHING?? its always ALWAYS in her bag!!
i swear its a tardis in there!! if a man ever ventured near the inside of a bag he'd be sucked in!
A woman im convienced never has a break up with a b/f, she just looses him into her bag and moves on!!

You mean "queer bags"? That's at least how we call them at us. Especially if they're made of leather. Don't know why this is a case.

Regarding your question, I've never really thought about it. But I do remember I peaked here and there into my mom's bag when I was little. Which she didn't allowed of course. :blushing: I still remember the pleasant smell of her bag and that there was no order in it. It was a compete mess. :D

Later I found out that my female friends had the very same mess in their bags :)

those small bags over the neck looks very cool and its quite practical if you are walking A LOT. I dread stuffing stuff in my pocket and a backpack looks stupid. That said i am not a fan of that "man purse" he was carrying around..though he managed to look str8 tugging under his arm. And yea, one shouldn't go through a woman's purse...there's only 2 women I'd do that to and one is my mother.

I agree it's a very uncomfortable situation.

I had to get some keys out of my Mom's purse when we were at a graduation party. So I'm thinking, aren't there some scientific laws preventing me from rummaging around a purse. Just like two magnetic forces opposing each other. Maybe when I get at the proper distance something will kick in and my hand will shoot away, or maybe just freeze, or some stinging burn. I think women have some hex or curse they put on them, but if they do ask someone to get something from the purse, the are able to turn it off for that instance.

Answer to the second question, which hasn't been asked yet, but soon will be.
NO!! I will never carry a "man purse"!

Women's bags are a world unto themselves and no man should ever venture there :p

As for man bags, I hate carrying anything and will stuff as much as I can into pockets. I have started to carry a smallish rucksack (backpack) more often these days, it's handy and doesn't get in the way on your back. I could never carry a "handbag", a man's version or not, don't like them, regardless of anything else! I think they've always been more popular in mainland Europe than in these more macho islands :))

Same here. My mom was always telling me to get something from her purse. Funny thing is, as she's grown older, the purse has shrunk, and now it's completely gone, replaced by a tiny little clutch bag...

And a "Man Bag", NEVER!!!

Everything I need to carry fits neatly into my pants pockets...

Wallet...

Keys...

Phone (a recent addition for me, lol)

pack of Dunhills (it's actually cheaper for me to import these than buy generics here, go figure:eek: )

Lighter

Switchblade, never leave home without it...

Derringer, chambered for .38 Special (I know it's only two shots, but if I needed more than one I wouldn't have been a Marine sniper, lol)

Due to high taxes, a pack of ciggys costs about 10 euro (12 dollars) in Ireland. Similar increases in tax on tobacco all over Europe. It's all part of a massive anti-smoking campaign. You can be arrested or jailed for smoking in a pub or restaurant (one member of parliament did it on purpose and nearly went to jail...). So America is still (barely) the land of the free. In the UK you can be heavily fined, put in jail for putting your bin out on the wrong day, or failing to recycle (depending on where exactly you live in the UK). There are even special recycling police in some neighbourhoods. Locals call them 'the Talibin'!

Importing a pack of Dunhills = life imprisonment over here... or worse, they force offenders to use patches and give them free lifetime counselling sessions. :p

Cough* they say North Korea is a concentration camp country!
Seems to me it is not the only one.

I hope you don't believe that rubbish about the UK. I live here, Integ doesn't and obviously relies on scandle rag tabloid headlines! :p
