If you are gay, would you take a "straight pill"?

This poll is for those who identify as gay (i.e. not bi).

Assuming you could access some reasonably priced and easy treatment such as a "straight pill" that would have only one effect - after taking it you would no longer be sexually interested in men, you would be interested in women. Permanently.

Would you take it? Why or why not?

For me, definitely not.

Expanding on the reasons I gave in the other thread, I have never had any desire to convert to straight, even though being gay has at times been awkward and frustrating.

I have by now come to terms with who I am (and at 61, I bloody well should have by now), and I know from my own experience that love, friendship and sex can exist irrespective of the sexes of the two people involved. Being a poofter is a part of what I am, it's not the only part but it's a significant part, and if that were to suddenly change I would be lost, I would no longer feel like "me".

Moreover, although I have not yet found Mr Right, I have not gone short of sex - good sex - and I do not delude myself that things would have been better if the partners had been women. Plenty of male/female marriages fall apart, or are only held together by the strings of social convention.

I am me, take me or leave me, don't ask me to change my sexual orientation.

So is this a permanent straight pill or a temporary pill? ;)

I've had sex with women and so has my boyfriend (he was once married). In all candor I don't think women are as exciting to fuck as men. Men can suck cock better than women and they don't mind roughness. So either a temporary or permanent pill wouldn't have a strong attraction for me.

Never I was created this way for a reason. I may not know the reason but it is the way it is. I like who I am and if someone felt like their life was bad enough to make them want to take then they haven't experienced the happy side of the gay life. If some one says I just want to be normal then they don't need it. cause they are normal. We all are.

Permanent. I didn't think that needed to be stated.

I dare say quite a few here would be willing to give it a go for a week or a month, just for the experience, but that's not what I am talking about. It's a straight pill, not a bi-curious pill or a gay-curious-I'll-try-straight-and-see-if-I-like-it-before-deciding pill.

Why is there always an assumption that life as a straight guy is easier.
I love woman in a non sexual way but some of them can be a real pain in the ass i couldn't imagine having to life with one 24/7.

ROFL - great point!

One of my favourite lines when my straight freinds have girl problems:

"Women - you can't live with them, you can't live without them ...... oh wait .... I can!"

In a tolerant society I don't think gay have it any easier or any harder than straights, but, in some countries I think a straight pill could be very appealing because it could save your very life! I wish I were being hyperbolic, but saddly I'm not :(

Now, at a fundamental level, I find the very notion of such a pill deeply offensive. Pill are for curing the sick, not for enforcing one person's view of normality on everyone else. The argument that it's more compassionate to 'cure' gay people because society hates them is actually putting things 100% ass-backwards. What needs fixing is not the gay people, but the hate-filled intolerant ass-holes who think they have a right to force their beliefs on everyone! In troubled societies, it's not that gays that need fixing, it's the society!

Definitely Not, there is way more Drama with women than there is with men, besides, we are who we are, we can't help who we love. Even if we could this "straight pill" was made by people who don't respect that we are made this way for a reason, we are made this way because love is indiscriminate of gender. I believe that if God (or whatever is out there that created things) wanted us all to be straight, then there wouldn't be a possibility for anything otherwise, i believe gays and lesbians are here on earth to be the lesson to humanity that love isn't something that discriminates.

No way. As obsessed as I am over men's asses and thighs, I sincerely doubt if such a pill would work on me. I feel that the desire and obsession are too deeply rooted. ;)

Straight pill

No I definitely wouldn't.
It is difficult at times being gay and was a crininal offence when I was young. However straight marriages are more likely to break down now and the problems caused by the divorce and the upset for any children is far worse than the aftermath of a failed gay relationship.
Having said all that, we have yet to see the aftermath of a failed gay 'wedding'.

In my opinion... I would not!!!

In my younger years, I played the straight role to please everyone else in my life. Well that turned out to be a waste of time. I've been married, have two kids, been divorced, raised them on my own, and more. The pill would only revert me back to a prior time in my life that I found to be horrendously stressful.

Not only would I have to deal with all the drama of being with a woman, I would also run the risk of starting to propagate all over again (unless I got fixed). Then there is the lovely PMS, that time of every month, menopause, mood swings, hot flashes, drama, insecurities, and the list goes on!

Now compare that to being with men. There are mood swings with some of the higher strung guys, and of course we have our fair share of drama (who doesn't like to gossip about the b*chy queens), and insecurities are nearly non-existent since we, well, like sex! We know that it can be found almost anywhere and at any time.

With the way the world's population is beginning to accept us being here and not hiding anymore, I think that there will soon be a shift in the way people see us. No longer will we be the dangerous lurkers hiding in the alleys, recruiters of those in their younger years, or even seen as deviants. No, we will be elevated to the status quo in the upcoming evolution of the human race and the tolerances to go with that evolution.

So, no I would not take this pill because I want to be a part of all this when it all changes. I wouldn't want to miss out because I simply wanted to 'play it straight' for everyone else. Besides, we have the best taste in clothes, jewelry, foods, cars, style, and more! Seriously, who would want to give up all that?!?!
