Being a spy or agent is nothing like the James Bond movies 
Best depiction in the movies to me was probably Richard Burton in "The Spy Who Came in From the Cold". Probably still way off the truth, but he could play world weary so brilliantly!

I hear that spies don't make very much money and it has come to light that the lives of spies are far from glamorous. Did you know, the guy who came up with James Bond was hated by almost everyone in his squad because he was a total Lazy Ass that would have thrown other people in front of an enemy to save himself. But I read the second part not the lazy ass part on a passing.
