So, you're not sure that Anora is gonna to win Best picture?!
Same thoughts. Anora just doesn't seem likely to be the type to win picture....BUT I’ll be surprised if it doesn’t pick up Adapted Screenplay.
THE ORDER (2024 - USA)
n 1983, a series of increasingly violent bank robberies, counterfeiting operations and armored car heists frightened communities throughout the Pacific Northwest. As baffled law enforcement agents scrambled for answers, a lone FBI agent (Law), stationed in the sleepy, picturesque town of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, came to believe the crimes were not the work of traditional, financially motivated criminals but a group of dangerous domestic terrorists, inspired by a radical, charismatic leader (Hoult), plotting a devastating war against the federal government of the United States. (IMdB)
Wow, since a very long time again a film which will make you speechless. It is a true story from 1983/1984, but sometimes
I could believe that this story happened too in 2025. Will that be really the USA? Or better asked: could that be the
USA from today? Has something changed in the last 40 years?
Please, if you can, watch this film. It is really very recommended!
But now you MUST watch it! I'm very interested of your opinion.I haven't watched this yet but have a copy of this on my USB - in the Nicholas Hoult section.
The black and white ones are the best. The movie was a great success which is unusual for one with no emotional manipulation, it is all hard cold reality. They took a big risk making it that way, the gamble paid off well. The Longest Day (1962) The story of D-Day with an all-star cast. One of the better war movies.
Watched The Gorge the other day, thoroughly enjoyed it![]()

THE BATTLE OF THE RIVER PLATE (1956 - England)
In the fall of 1939, the German heavy cruiser (referred to as a pocket battleship) Graf Spee seems to have command of the Atlantic. In the first three months of World War II, she was responsible for sinking nine ships. The British sent three cruisers commanded by Commodore Henry Harwood to confront her. The battle took place on December 13, 1939, and the British came out on top. The Graf Spee headed for the neutral harbor of Montevideo, Uruguay. They were given only a short time to effect repairs, and the British did their best to make them believe a British fleet of six or eight ships awaited them. Rather than chance the loss of his men, the German Captain ordered the Graf Spee scuttled. (IMdB)
Again an old film but nevertheless a GREAT film. The true story of the GRAF SPEE and his commander Langsdorff. It is my opinion that in these old days they made the best war movies. Today, many of these movies are only "good vs. bad". Here it was shown that the enemy (Germans) could have been honorable as well. I don't know if you ever have watched this film, but if you will have the possibility, try it, and I'll feel confident that you will not be disappointed!
