Olden days:
Bette Davis. She was always hideous to look at, and take away her strange mannerisms and there's nothing left. Warner Bros. publicity department started the whole "actress" versus "star" thing to try to counter MGM's "more stars than in the heavens." This translated specifically to Bette Davis vs. Joan Crawford, and it was all bullshit. Joan Crawford was a better actress and in more great films.
Recent actesses/celebrities:
Jennifer Aniston. What a publicity whore. She has no discernible talent, isn't much to look at, she's unbelievably boring on screen, and she is still whining and crying about Brad Pitt to Oprah or the tabloids or whatever poor soul she encounters on the streets--get over it! The marriage must have been a sham or Brad wouldn't have left her, and in fact they have been divorced longer than they were ever married! Move on, and get out of the public eye, boring hag who still demands that she get air-brushed on magazine covers to try to look 20 years old still! And get a new hairstyle--that look isn't suitable for someone your age!

Paris Hilton an actress... hahahaha now come on
Being an actor or an actress is by definition to convey a realistic performance of a written text. Those are helped by the Director, The script (which doesn't exist anymore) and a bunch of other specialist that coach the actor in doing their best to make their performance as realistic as possible.
The best way to test the ability of a movie actor or television is to put them in a theater before public and mimic a crowd that start "booing" at them and see if they still can perform... in film class this was an exercise that we've tried... even though we knew we were going to be tested it is still very difficult to concentrate and the one that can give its performance when the crowd is agitating is normally becoming an actor that can overcome many bad situations.
Also actors and actress should definitely know which type of movies or theater pieces they are the best in and try at least to stick with them... it is not a bad thing to try to develop new skills in acting but unfortunately if one actor have been doing comedy for so long... the fans will take some time to get use to the new persona and this can really ruins the whole movie concept even if the actor gave a great performance. Remember Leslie Nielsen? Well as good as an actor he is I don't see him in drama, even though he came from a very dramatic background when he uses to play in soap opera. That was way before Air Plane.
Now let's talk about those who believe they can act because they have a big name such as Hilton, this is an insult to call her an actress because she clearly had some push to be in the industry... she can really not convey a good performance and let's speak the truth there... she's horrible in every way as an actress no matter the type of movie she choose. Let it be clear I am not in any way jealous of her situation... I just know she has an somewhat acting career because of her family name not her "talent". And she can go as much as she wants in acting class, until she changes her reputation of little spoiled princess of the Hilton Dynasty she'll never be taken seriously... having her in a film is a huge waste... for the industry and for the one who wanted to see a nice movie with a great theme but it just happens that she's in the darn film. They could treat of an important subject as breast cancer in the movie... but if that "skank of a Hilton dynasty plays in it" It discredit the whole movie no matter how serious she wanna be.
I don't have much hate for actress or actor in general because even thought I don't like Lohan, Miley Cyrus or other actress of the same leather... I'd take that they have at least the talent and the will to do better than that Hilton trash... Yeah I really really don't like her.:angry:

I guess I'll stand alone and say that I actually like Jennifer Aniston ALOT. I never quite got the fascination with Kristen Stewart though and as much as I love Beyonce & J.Lo as pop singers I detest them as actresses (yep I said it!)

Halle Berry can be added to my list a beautiful woman but for the life of me i don't get why she won an Oscar for Monster's Ball i found her wig very distracting and if it wasn't a wig she should sue the hairdresser.
