i seen this idea a while back and thought y hasnt anyone discussed it yet, its one that would in one swoop solve everyones problems...
im gona concenerate on the tv market where i think a lot of the pressure is coming from, lets face it hollywood mark their success on cinema takings lol
and disk sales aint dropping.
today there are tv networks and a lot of the time they commishion their series from studios and alikes. they then show these shows with the promise to advertisers that so many will watch and sell em ad space in the form of comerical breaks or the covieted "sponsered by"
theres a problem now with this market
we the public grew up with free tv and expect our tv to be free, worse with the advent of the internet and dvr recorders we expect things at our time, when we want it
networks cant sell this to the advertisers so they try to supress this, hunting pirates who record their stuff and distibue it to everyone for free
but we all know this story
so what can be done?
apple and hollywood believe in paying a "small fee" to get the eposides
the buying model
the trouble is now we are "buying" our tv but we grew up with our tv as free
or least a small fee for a lot of tv, cable satilate etc..
i know i know some will argue with the free tv and cable or satilate small fee remark
but i grew up with 6 tv channels and never paid a penny lol
and recorded everything on tape
yes there is the "rent" model, u rent the series and again its ok... lot of streaming and alikes but we still are in the waiting stage, waiting for em to be screened on tv before we get em..
we in europe dont like waiting anymore for u americans to "finsih with ur schedules before giving em to our networks here!!
we just download em from the US lol
so we are left with legal battles, file sharers, fines, and WORSE lobbying and politicians
a solution i seen a while back solves a lot of stuff but it does mean a BIG change one the networks dont want us knowing or discussing...
they buy a lot of their stuff from, often than not, studios
take for example a real favourite of mine stargate sg1
syfy didnt make it, they bought it from mgm, mgm actually made it and sold it to the tv network syfy
they in turn sold it to the advertisers and thus to us
so y not cut out the middle man
mgm makes a series of 20 eposides, at what? 2? 3? 5 million a pop?
thats 100 million, cheaper than a movie lol, hell its a 20 hour movie!
now the clever part, FUCK THE NETWORKS lol
now watch any download from the net of tv series and u will all notice something most have in common
most have a logo somewhere on the corner
the network logo, syfy, nbc, abc or whatever
do we the public mind this? no... we mind it spinning now and then? no do we even gumble and start hate mail over it? god no lol
soooooooo
mgm now has 20 eposides of a popular series...
let mgm go to the advertisers themselves and ask "hey coco-cola" or "hey mcdonalds" or any big business out there "hey APPLE would u like to buy a corner of a popular tv series"
dont sell em what? 30 seconds they can get at most from syfy
sell em 30 mins!
imagine what would apple or coco-cola pay for their logo, a few odd spins or something on millions of computer and tv screnes around the world for 15.. 30.. 60 minutes
ultimate sponsorship, each eposide from some advertiser

how to sell the fact its being watched everywhere by millions??
give it away for free to us the public
mgm sets its own downloads
go to mgm and download each eposide for free each week at ur leasure when u want to
miss a week ok get the last 2 eposides
they already got their money back from apple and alikes
and pirates? yes please copy it... spead it... get eyeryone to get it lol
the more the better
look coco-cola its gone viral, ur eposide! lol
best still a while after release the disks, hd without the logo's, i bet they would sell so... more cash
and if syfy want it sure y not but dont wait for em to screen it, fuck em lol
the only loosers in this is the networks
we the users get our stuff for free, the pirates are now doin some of the work, speading it about all for free even, imagine free labour! lol
and best of all mgm or whoever makes the series gets their cash from the advertisers yay!!
which is where they get it from anyways in a long way around, only now they get it direct without some greedy network takin their cut lol
christ mgn advertise the latest bond on the bottom for 5 seonds inseads of whats coming on next crap the networks put up lol
