Hay Guys,

I just read in a thread posted the other day that "Leo Cooper" committed suicide back in April this year

Did a bit of digging last night and found this

http://anon.projectarchive.net/?htt...orn/2014/08/leo-cooper-committed-suicide.html

If you go to the original web page there are clickable images

He documented it on Facebook moments before he jumped :(

Just read some of the text on the page, he tried and tried to get a job, but people know who he was and what he had done in the past.

Another waste of a life :(

I feel so bad... and who is to blame for this loss...
I don't know what's wrong in doing porn; I guess all the people who were responsible for the loss of his job enjoy sex - so what's wrong in being a pornstar?

Nothing unusual about a young man taking his own life I'm afraid. Someone else is doing it right now. By the time you read to the end of this post the deathtoll will have gone up again. It's the biggest single cause of death among young men. By the time you finish watching a porno movie another bus full of promising lives will have been thrown away.
Being an ex porn actor is only a minor detail, millions of people kill themselves for millions of differant reasons. Although the real reason is usualy the same. All it takes is one human being to talk to, one person who will listen for long enough to be able to explain that there is a better way. At the crucial time that understanding voice was never there. Everyone carrying a phone everywhere might have been a help since anyone can phone anyone now. But that hasn't made any differance.
Advertising your own death on facebook seems shocking but this man was not in a heathy state of mind at the time. The article says;
"He did so practically live when the informed every step of friends on the social network"
What a debasement of the word friends, what use are friends like these when none of them were any use to him at his moment of greatest need.

So right you are Dargelos ... so right you are...
Yet this is one of the few cases where I see the importance of religious faith - at moments of great despair: when your friends are only friends by name, at least you have something to turn to: even if it is a figment of your own imagination.

To throw away your own life?!

How courageous you must be,

or how cowardly you must be,

or how desperate you must be to do that!

There has been no one in his life to whom he could entrust himself? What a poor and wasted life!

This is what the hypocrisy of our western puritan-inspired sensibilities lead to.

FACT - just about every adult (and many teens) enjoy porn PRIVATELY, and yet, will PUBLICLY condemn porn stars.

Do you really think none of those people who denied this young man jobs have enjoyed porn? I don't, not for a millisecond.

What does it say about us as a society that so many of us can consume porn at home, and then discriminate against the actors that make it possible in work?

Bottom line - if you wank to it, don't be prejudiced against porn actors, if you do, and you are, then I consider you a grade-A ass-hole and a hypocrite.

Its long past time that we grew up as a society and started to be open and honest about all things sex - we'd all be much healthier for it, mentally and physically!

In this case too, one of the audience did call the police but in the few minutes it took them to arrive it was all over.
Much as I agree with every word you say gb, there is more to consider than the bias against the porn biz.
Officialy there are 18.8 million looking for work in Europe, the true figure is likely to be more. Not many of them are former porn stars. I can't get a job and I'm no porn star. In some workplaces 29 makes you an old man. If 18 year olds can be employed for less money and fewer rights then they will be. Any excuse will do to move you aside, you're too slow, too fast, too thin, too fat, overqualified, underqualified, or you used to fuck boys on camera.
Men were traditionaly brought up to believe that hard work was part of what it means to be a man. The right add to this the accusation that if you can't find a job it's only because you are not trying hard enough. Nothing to do with all the good jobs having disappeared. It's your fault not our fault.
There are no good reasons for killing yourself, least of all because you can't find a job.

This sentence I'll fully subscribe Dargelos!

And it is correct as well that the society will exclude porn-actors or ex-porn-actors, because they have given them a good jerk in their privacy but they cannot allow themselves to admit that.

But why to commit suicide? Life has so much to give you. But nevertheless life will not be a jackpot for great and marvellous things. It has its ups and downs and you must be strong enough to endure both of it.

Thank you dargelos for a set of posts full of compassion and serious thought!
In Sweden - since I'm Swedish and know Swedish society best - suicide has been the most common cause of death for people in the ages of 15-30 for decades. Suicide of young boys and girls is the big, big elephant in the room. NOBODY knows how to handle this fact. The progressive politicos doesn't know, the conservative politicos doesn't know, the professors doesn't know, the journalists and media pundits doesn't know - but most have their favourite moralistic blabber...Which I resent...

I want to quote a few lines from Shakespeare. Of course it's Sonnet nr 146, what else:

So shalt though feed on death, that feeds on men,
But death once dead, there's no more dying then.

Or John Donne:
Death! Thou shalt Die!

Consider the difference between men and women when they feeling suicidal.
More women than men talk about their suicidal feelings.
More men than women complete the act.
Women can talk to other women about their problems.
Men are brought up to believe that real men are like John Wayne, the strong silent type, stoically brave.
So see if you can spot the clue to the answer.
Hands up class anyone who thinks they know.

It seems like like nobody has taken their Ritalin today so I'll have to give you the answer.
Men have to learn to stop worshiping the fantasy of the macho macho man (two three four). Women are brave enough to cry to their friends. Macho men are too cowardly to cry. Strong men are too weak to hold hands. Tough guys are more scared of living than dying. So we let them die. Who's next?

The blue & white pills look like prozac... you can google to see what they should look like and then compare. People suffering from depression have higher rates of suicide. So that could well be the explanation.

Like yoyo I also did a bit of googling, and it seems like he has a good job, in a beauticians. There is a picture of him with what looks like his partner, at the beauticians -so possible his partner also works there, or maybe they were just friends. Everyone looks happy. This is in the days leading up to his suicide. Maybe a Czech member will find it easier to read the articles and can confirm any facts. I don't want to presume anything.

We can see an almost empty bottle of Vodka, the implication is that he was drinking and taking meds... not a good idea. But if depressed he may not have been able to make good judgments.

Depression doesn't only effect mood, it can effect judgement. This can lead the sufferer to for example see a small problem, set-back, or challenge as huge and insurmountable.
Maybe he applied for 10 jobs, and got one offer. Took up the job and got on well... but in a darker mood he might have incorrectly concluded that because 9/10 applications were rejected, he was a failure, or his reputation as a pornstar was to blame. It may or may not have been... but the point is he wasn't thinking or judging clearly. For example, someone else might have reasoned that it is normal to apply for many jobs and then get, hopefully, one or two offers. Maybe others were out there applying for 100 jobs, and not getting even one.
He may simply not have judged it that way. He saw the negative x10,000. This is the dark power depression can have over someone.

We may never know what was really going on in his mind... at the moment he stepped out of that window.

Of course we feel terribly sorry for him, his family, his friends. The pain and sorrow will be with them for the rest of their days. I often think it is kind of etched into their expression and you can pick up on the sorrow and the profound effect it has had on them even years and decades later. Life goes on, they all have to get up, brush their teeth, go to work, do the washing, etc. but the sorrow will still be there.

Worth listening to the lyrics in this:

I also thank you Realsek1, well said.
If only it were otherwise but this is the most important topic on the forum. War and accident and disease are all dangers we understand. How many people understand that the biggest risk to their own lives is themselves. Self inflicted death is the most common form of death most members of this place are at risk of. It's a terrible fact, it's hard to face up to but it's true. I keep intending to start a topic to go into depth about attitudes to mental illness, but never do. It's too depressing, it won't be any fun, so it keeps getting put back.

What a sad event. It's difficult (for me) to understand what causes a person to take his own life.
