Buying the small constructor René Bonnet, Matra hope to access more quickly to the competition. It get also the interesting coach Djet with central Renault engine. Matra Sports is created with Jean-Luc Lagardère as president.

A lot of improvements are brought on the René Bonnet Djet that become Matra-Bonnet. The rear part is lenghtened with more room for the luggage.

The rebirth of Audi :
When Volkswagen bought DKW Auto-Union, it was necessary to change the name and the engine of their last model that had a bad image because of the old 3 cylinders-2 strokes engine (smoke and smell). In the group Auto-Union the name "Audi" was available. A modern Mercedes motor 1.7 liter was assembled on the old DKW F102 that became just the Audi. Only the logo remains.
