Simca already in 1965 ...


In the disused station Arsenal. There is six disused stations in the Parisian metro. Simca made an exhibition of its range 1965. The old Sprague train was not the RER of today! The passenger had the time to see the cars in the illuminated station.

People that you see are the actors of the movie "La grosse caisse". This set gave an idea of movie to the director Alex Joffre.

The Mini family (1959 - 2001)


The father of the Mini, Alec Issigonis, presenting it to the medias at Chobham in August 1959.
This car inaugurated a new arrangement very compact for a Front Wheels Drive with transversal engine and gear box below.

First named by the code ADO 15, this new model will be both Austin Seven and Morris Mini Minor.

From the Mini mechanical, Alec Issigonis developed two bigger models, the Morris 1100 above (1962) and the Austin 1800 (1964).

On this Austin 1300 GT like on all the range Austin-Morris, the suspension Hydrolastic with interaction front/back.

1971 : Austin 2200 powered by a new six-aligned cylinder derived from the four cylinder 1500 of the Austin Maxi below. This is only the Issigonis arrangement that allow a transversal six-aligned cylinder under the bonnet.

There was a room between the serie 1100-1300 and the 1800. In 1969, appear the Austin Maxi 1500 five doors, five speeds.

This Austin Maxi drawing of René Bellu show the space division in the Issigonis arrangement : 20% for the mechanical, 80% for the passengers. This car inaugurated a new motor 1500 cm3 - one OHC - too greedy and not enough performing. It's really too bad for this interesting car.

Mini Metro (1980)


Can we replace the Mini? Presented at Paris motorshow 1980, the new Metro try to do it.
The suspension is a type Hydragas simplified without the interaction Front/Back but with some shock absorbers on the front axle. The mechanical is derived from the Mini one.
