Crap Videographers

Anyone else agree that some cameramen in porn are absolutely hopeless?

Never ceases to amaze me how crap some of them are. Quite a few times lately have come across a movie, some really nice models and think this is going to be a good one-and then the so-called "cameraman" makes a complete hash of the whole thing.

Some of them can't even seem to master the basics like lighting which is very important in videos-and indeed in the film industry, where it's a completely separate profession.

Many really have no idea how to do a shot, they either do it from so far away, you can't see anything or too close so everything is blurred, or they film from underneath the balls and you can't see the shot at all.

Then there is the utterly incompetent, who miss the shots altogether or quickly pan across catching the third squirt etc -very frustrating.

Saw one the other day, would have been a fantastic shot, but the idiot missed it, quickly panned across as the guy was coming and camera was blurred and shaky, missing most of it-utterly frustrating!

I think the worst one I ever saw was a video with 4 very cute models- would have been a brilliant movie, but the half wit behind the camera managed to miss every shot out of four guys!
Absolutely clueless-you could tell they were about to come and what did the idiot do? Pans up to their faces for ages -in the process of course missing the shot!
After he did it the first time I thought surely you have learned from that and be more careful with the next ones-wishful thinking!
He did the same screw up with the other three-unbelievable incompetency!

His use of lighting further confirmed his cluelessness- filmed them sucking each other from underneath but pointed the camera at a skylight, which completely screwed up the exposure and all you could see was dark shadows-unbelievable!
And I just hate the vids where instead of the natural sounds they have inserted mindless crap music instead, -only thing to do is mute the Video before one throws a brick at the computer.

Fortunately there are some good camera operators too, the guy from Teens-Boys-World and Boys Love, sure knows how to make good videos -excellent quality and everything done just right.

Ill be the first to admit there are a few... very few cameramen/lighting technicians who are good at their work. The lighting in movies by bel ami, sean cody n most of the vids featuring brent corrigan are pretty good...
But lets face it. Most of the behind the scenes ppl in porn are there coz they couldnt get into mainstream cinema and/or they werent good lookin enough to be in front of the camera

Yeah it's gotta be said there are some MAJOR amateurs out there. Even some studios like AB are absolutely terrible on some shoots (I know they outsource a lot of stuff, and I guess that's where they fall short). Also, HE are systematically terrible. I've not seen any that are well directed or filmed. Everything is just really really awkward.

And they expect people to pay ridiculous amounts of money for this stuff? Pfft.

In all fairness, I've never met (or been formally introduced to) a bed that didn't squeak at least a fair bit. They're just there to announce to the world EXACTLY what you're doing.

The beds are a US production and don't compare that with a good EU-made bed. The beds over there do all squeak :devil:

You forgot things like:
The microphone boom or camera itself suddenly at the top of a shot.
Or the cameraman's shadow, and in some or their reflection in a mirror on glass pane.

lol that is true a lot of porn is ruined by its poor or should we say, non existent artistry involved in its process.

OK, I agree, much of the videography is very poor. In general I think still photography is of a higher standard than video. Part of the answer is: if its poor quality, don't buy it or pass it on to others.

Also, we should remember that it's easy enough to criticise, but can I do better?

Many members live in EEC countries. Hey, why don't you lobby your MEPs for a European standard for porn? I'm sure there'd be no shortage of applications for inspectors!

The problem with the porn industry today is one of quantity over quality... they just have to pump out as many videos as possible to keep their subscribers, or compete with other companies. Most of the retro porn, by comparison, is of much higher quality, and there seemed to be a certain uniqueness to each movie --like making a porno at the time was a big deal, and careful thought and work went into it by default. This seems to stay the case right through to nineties porn, Bel Am1 etc. But something went horribly wrong from about the year 2002 or so onwards. It's like no one really cares or is interested anymore. Getting porn is now comparable to a trip to some dull, artificially lit supermarket, where you throw a few things mindlessly into the basket to 'keep you going'.

There was a time when they tried to infuse plots, character development, and even (shocker!) ACTING in porno films - ALL to no avail. It was HIDEOUS! As the first cheap home video cams developed - EVERYONE could produce their own "porn" film - and they did - and it translated to the adult film industry in the birth of "Gonzo-porn" (Low or no produciton values - just shoot 2 people fucking and you're in business) The internet made this approach economically viable so EVERYONE did it! (and still do)

I actually APPLAUD the few companies around today that go the extra mile to, at LEAST, make their videos visually appealing....
--BelAmi has been GREAT for 20 years now - the original pioneer with high quality location, scenes, actors, and lighting. The only thing they've maybe missed on is the animal passion between the guys but that's okay.

--C*rbinF*sher is TOP of the line with models but their gay and "straight" sex sites are totally devoid of sexual magnetism - probably because he hires the same hooker to f*ck the next 10 guys he's going to post on his site and she shows the same interest with each one - NOTHING! I know we're just supposed to look at the guys but maybe buying 2 pillows and tying them together for the guy to fuck would provide more excitement than those bimbos do.....yuck! If he's trying to lure any of us back to heterosexuality those cold fish don't come close - and maybe that's his idea.

I think the main difference is between a factory made bed and a hand crafted bed.

My parents had a factory made bed and... don't laugh, but the fucked it into pieces. My mother told me when it was breaking down one saturday some weeks ago... they were fucking it to break down!

I have a hand crafted bed... well... it's a raw piece of a bed, but it doesnt squeak and it can take my weight ^^

It's usually the box springs that squeak.
In an older house it can also be the floor joists.

Integritas0, that may be good when your younger, but when you get older it's sometimes gets to be very difficult to get out of something so close to the ground.
Course if one has to much to drink, it's not a far fall!:rofl::rofl:
