It is dark and cold. As damp blankets glides white fog through the undergrowth. Light has become costly since the people of the lowlands have left the path of decency. It is obvious that man alone is unable to find his way back. Therefore you need higher powers, or people who have seen the light, oracles.
The conditions got less favorable last week. Rain has made the ground soggy. Each step leaves a trial behind. They must continue to move, to escape their hunters. But they are old and deficient. Their wheelchairs stuck in the mud. The will to live slowly begins to evaporate. Does it make any sense to keep alive? Tjerk looks at his companions. They are ugly and awful smelling, too dirty to touch. He is happy that there is no mirror around, so he can’t see himself.
Age and bad food had degenerated their brains. Memory holes made organized thinking impossible. Only basic things they can still remember. As the reason for their get-away, the deadly Euthanasia Squad, who hunts for old people and kills them. But why they do so, they can’t remember.
“Peter doesn’t show up” says Klaas, breaking the silence. “Let us go to the meeting point, I don’t want to be late”. Silently the group began to move. They had to leave the shield that the undergrowth offered and go to the open road, so the wheels of their chairs could properly roll. It made them vulnerable, far easier to catch, but the highlight this day offered was worth the risk. A member of the church would be waiting for them in the birch grove near the river. He would offer them proper food and what seemed even more important, nice children to play with. This event kept their flame of life burning. It was good to know that there still is left respect for life.
Last time the man tried to explain the reason why they have become fugitives. That the low lands have changed into a Sodom and Gomorrah. Infinite lust had paralyzed decency and economy. Things that were of no use should be destroyed. Old people had no other use than being food for the younger ones. That was the task of the Euthanasia Squad.
But that there was a dawn of hope: “Sanatorium”. Far away, in a country where decency still rules, where honesty, equality and human rights are still the basis for their existence, there it is finding its way to existence. “Sanatorium” was able to cure all the sick minds and help people to build a better world.
The old people didn’t understand a word of the explanation and it didn’t bother them either. Their world had become small, restricted to that what they still were able to see and feel. Higher ethics as composed by “Sanatorium” seemed only useful for people with bright minds and great knowledge of what really is happening in the entire world. Only such people have the ability to rule the world.

Crazy Rick, the stout-hearted reporter from Crazy News Novelties worked undercover in the Sanatorium institute. He was able to discover in their archive a photo of the average Lowlander, named as Homens Hollanditus. In earlier days there were males and females, but nowadays it is hard to see any difference. Everybody fucks everybody. Their moral standard is so low, that you can say that there is no morality left at all. They inject, smoke dope, eat, drink and fuck 24 hours a day (when they are awake).

Antje or Jan (you can't see the difference without lifting the skirts)

Hey TJerk ... I'm glad you haven't sunk to using cheap stereotypical images of your fellow Dutch countymen as tulip growing, dope smoking, clog wearing, Heinekin drinking, windmill users :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Interesting story I must say. From this story I can tell that you are definitely a good writer. The scene, emotion was easily to picture and felt when I read it. The story of a nation ruled by the young where everything looks ruin to me (in your description of your second post), where decency, equality, morality and human right had no room anymore and when old people had no place in the society was Mmm....kinda what we felt right now. All that left now is waiting for the Judgement Day I guess...or a Messiah that bring salvation to this wrecked world.

Dear Refix,
To explain this little story I will give you some background info.
I am interested in politics. It doesn’t mean that I have a high opinion of most politicians, but the way they act is of influence for our society. So I follow a bit the American Pre-elections of the Republican Party. Of course I have my opinion about the quality of the candidates, but it is an election for the American voters, so I think it is inappropriate to get involved. Things change when you think that a candidate is a dangerous liar. There is a possibility that he becomes the new world leader. In the youngest history we have painful examples of the consequences of lies by world leaders.
One of the candidates, Rick Santorum, told his potential voters that in The Netherlands old people get killed by euthanasia. In itself, I would have no problem with that message, but with the context within these words are told, I have. He suggests that morality in The Netherlands is so low, that we don’t have any shame to kill old people. Mister Santorum is not a Simple Simon. He knows how things are in The Netherlands. In health care, care for deprived, disabled care and especially the care for old people, The Netherlands belong to the top of the world (with Norway, Sweden and Denmark and even far better than in Germany). But in The Netherlands we are far less hostages of Christianity than the people in the USA. People are allowed to ask for euthanasia. This is a long and difficult procedure. First of all there should be a situation of unbearable suffering. The person’s mind should still work properly. Several doctors and possibly psychiatrists get involved. And the general practitioner has the right not to cooperate (he can have conscientious objection).
To do things properly there is now a kind of euthanasia squad. Specialists who can ensure, that the dying process will be decent.
Nobody gets killed against his will.
Also there is a development in the field of re-animation. You can decide about the fact if you will be re-animated or not. Research has proven that more than 90% of the re-animation cases for very old people lead to intensive care patients, without any hope for their future.
The Netherlands is a decent country with a high degree of civilization. The remarks of Mister Santorum made me angry. So I decided to write a little story in which I describe my country in the way Mister Santorum sees this loyal ally of the USA. If such a person becomes the president of the USA, than The Netherlands would be wise to review their relations with the USA.

Thanks for this careful clarification. You hit the problem well.
I am Italian, and though it has that sort of political origins of my land, I hope not reaching beyond the primary. Is a dedicated Christian and Catholic is very dangerous for world stability.
Some people, before speaking, dobrebbe brushing your teeth.
I've never been in the Low Countries, but thanks to the internet, I was able to document myself.
You are a nation where people's rights are respected, and not bartered to obtain the consent of the Church of Rome, as in Italy.
Even the political "left" are servile to the Vatican. Unfortunately my country is far away from yours.
What can you expect from a people who voted Berlusconi for 17 years?
Sorry for bad English.

Nothing wrong with tulips - especially on my organ.
