I blame the railroads...
They were the first industry to have a direct influence on the government, they were granted permission to use private police, they were the first lobbyist and they set the stage for our government to be manipulated by business interest for the past 150 years, they were the very seed of corruption...

If we stopped all lobbying activities and only allowed public election financing.....if we stopped the influence of money on the system....

Oh yes, the robber barons that run the railroads (some of them still own the tracks, thus crippling amtrak and any other feasible high-speed national rail system) were the start of a long scheme of massive corruption and corporatism that today owns the entirety of the american political system. I'd like a PR system, as well as massive electoral reform and a constitutional convention here.

LOL...most Americans have no clue what a PR system or a plurality system is for that matter. They think the US is a democracy....spelled Republic and that's the depth of their knowledge of government. "Hey the US isn't like them communist countries...we got 2 parties here" They have no idea the ramifications of active gerrymandering in a 2 party plurality system. They do recognize and bitch about the main problems that the 2 party plurality system causes.....gridlock and corruption. But they don't connect the dots, that the system is the problem, instead they vote the "Bastards" out and repeat the endless cycle expecting that to fix the problem. When it doesn't, they understandingly become appathetic and stop voting.
A few of the founding fathers, expected this to happen and warned against it, one of the lone voices was George Washington. But his warnings were ignored thanks to the likes of Thomas Jefferson (the founding father I despise the mostX() and on the other side...Alexander Hamilton (understand why John Adams told him to fuck off).
Yes...A PR system with at minimum of 5 or 6 viable political parties would be great! :thumbs up: And yes, I would want to be a politician in such a system where things could actually get accomplished.:blushing:
Sigh...we will never see it happen here...not without a bloody revolution
