For me it has been other way. I remember as a child I had this period that the idea of dying was almost imbossiple to handle. Now I don't fear it at all. It comes when it comes. I don't spend the whole night waiting in fear when the alarm bell orders me to wake up:)

When I was a teenager, I used to fear death especially after my dad died much earlier, however, after experiencing a life-threatening situation where I was told by doctors that I was going to die on the operating table, I come to accept death because as I reflect back on my life thus far, I have achieved and accomplished quite a bit and despite the trials and tribulations that I've been dealt with, I've had some great bfs who gave me the opportunity to know what it feels like to be loved unconditionally and experience sex without any limitations.

I don't believe in life after death, nor re-incarnation. So when I am dead it is over and out.I am 66 years, so death comes nearer step by step. I don't want to die, life is still a very interesting experience. But I am not afraid to die. It is nice to know that things are not going on for ever. Aging is coupled with limitations, physically and mentally. There will come a moment that I am not able to live a life that is not boring. That will be the moment that I turn the switch and things are over, dead with a smile on my face.

I'm certainly not afraid to die. But I do dread the modern process. You get old and feeble. Your dignity slips away. They prop you up with meds and surgery. They keep you around till you are sick of life and yearn for death.
I hope when my time comes that we have found a kinder way.

I don't fear death, but TBH I'm much more aware of it as I age. I think of it more in terms of a limitation: Will I be able to do all the things I still want to do? Will my mind and body stay healthy? Will I see the things I am starting now come to maturity? Will I have enough money to last?

There are a lot of questions like these that have no real meaning to younger people but become major issues as I get older.

Last year , the father of one of my friend , during his work in his office , he die so suddenly , just one second , he fell down on the ground , the reason of his death was " his brain some where was explodes by the blood in the brain . He was about fifty years old , very gentle very kind , he helped me sometime when I need help , I miss him so much .
His death let me feel that we must love each second of our life , and don't be afraid the death , because the death can be coming by somewhere and by any situation . Sometime when I think about all my friends who were dead , it's seem I can feel that they are just beside me , so friendly to kiss my face ! Even I don't believe any Gods , but sometime I tell to my self , when I die , I can still to play with them together !

Hi Fish - it's called an aneurysm but you go it right - an artery explodes and that's just it. Very sudden - very sad - none of us think it can happen to us but it can.

I was 11 years old and excited to be going on a school trip on a saturday when my mom screamed from their bedroom - my dad had a heart attack and died in minutes - he was going to live forever in my mind and suddenly just gone...life is fragile and we should all appreciate every moment becuase you just never know when the plug will be pulled.

Good post! Thanks for sharing...

Getting old does SUCK! I'm just starting to go through it:blushing: but yeah, theres no doubt! BUT what happens if you turn the switch and suddenly you're still aware on some level and floating on a plane you never thought existed? Not your physical body which is probably really worn out:p but your soul has been liberated and IS you in the afterlife? Would you feel mad or like you had another chance to exist on some other plane?

PS - Love you Tjp:p I don't want you to ever go away!

I am not afraid of dying, when I'm dead, then I'm dead and that's it. I'm more worried about the time before my death.

I'm almost 35 years old and on a bad day I move like an old woman, my hands shake all the time and sometimes I need to use my cane (for walking, nothing perv :p ), thanks for my Parkinson's Disease. These are alright, I'm used to them, but what will happen in the next 10 and 20 years? Will I eventually end up being totally unable to take care of myself before I even reach 50? Or what will happen, who knows, but death? Sometimes being alive is more scary.

Still, sun is shining and spring time is here, so who cares about shakiness now. Have a nice Sunday everybody

As a youngster I fear death so much, I have been around death a lot, my mom to start with, then my grandmother who died at 52 from Diabetes and my first girlfriend who died at 17 from a car accident and her brother (my best friend) who was 19 and shot himself when he lost her mom, sister and favorite aunt in the same car accident, and even Alex which I found almost dead at 19 when he got so depressed of his breakup with his first boyfriend, if I didn't find him that day Alex would have been gone and over. Even I in the last few months I had a minor heart attack (yes at 35) which forced me to relax a little bit.

Death is a natural course and it's to me the only justice in this world, one day you'll be gone forever, and that day isn't written, no psychic and no gods decide when this day will come. Lindsay, my first girlfriend sure didn't want to die at 17, Alex wanted to die at 19, but I stopped him in his course. I don't wanna die in my thirties but if life decided so, what can I do?

Carpe Diem (seize the day) is my motto, I live one day after another and when the last breath comes I can say that I lived and loved and that it was my time. Knowing that i had a mild heart attack at 35, there's another one waiting for me, and I don't know if it will be the final one or just another warning. I don't have family medical history to look upon, all is based on me.

Am I scare of death now? No because it is inevitable and I don't control when or where it will happens, but I do hope it won't be painful, I'd love to die while having sex :p

I agree and I appreciate all the previous posts.

I can only add that if one considers this, with calm, it is useless to fear death.

You can not predict when it will be your time, nor prevent that from happening.

The important thing is to age with dignity, if you're lucky.

No fear of dying here. Fear of having to be cared for by others though.

So true !

If I ever had the fortune to know that was coming I have a perfect painless plan sorted out! Even told my Mum the same, I'll die of exposure on a cold night in a field just out of town with a bottle or two of good Scotch and my mp3 player playing my fave songs.

Perfect way to go ;)

Just hope nobody finds me in time :))
