I'm a "non-staunch" veggie so it was veggie, but I did allow myself a bit of meat at a BBQ on Saturday. It's very rare, but I let my principles go sometimes when I'm out :p

I never buy it for home, except a bit of fish occasionally. First red meat I think I've had in 20 years!! No, I don't miss it! Was tasty but prefer not to eat it as a rule.

I hated the cruelty aspect of factory farming & slaughter houses, etc & I just snapped one day and chose not to eat it again.

I've mellowed over time, but in general I've stuck to it !

wow.. thats quite impressive.. good for you xman! I wish there were a way that we can have meat and not have to put cows to death the way they do.. I hope your getting a healthy source of vitamins.. my friend who is fairly skinny never ate meat to begin with so she decided to become vegetarian.. and her skin isn't.. so wonderful.. shes getting light pink skin pigments on her face.. so i think it might be lack of protein? :S.. anyways I hope your getting a good balance of protein <3

Don't worry about that - I'm not slim and all manner of beans compensate for what you get in meat. One reason I started eating fish again was the healthy properties, plus I like it, which might sound selfish really. I have other reservations about fishing, the seas are becoming very empty, because the terrible deep trawler fishing is destroying so much!! Our seas are becoming deserts, and over here they have to go further and further out to catch anything!

One sickening thing is that under EU restrictions and quotas certain fish can't be landed. So what happens - they throw them back dead!! It makes no difference , they're still caught and killed! Killed for no reason!

Future generations are going to really hate us!

over fishing is terrible and I think that is something that we should definitely be more considerate about.. What type of fish do you prefer? I know some types of fish are farmed.. like tilapia.. I happen to like tilapia a lot so I have no problem eating it I think that would also be a good solution for others because it will obviously help the environment and even better for the sea instead of over fishing.. I remember watching a show on the environment channel and the comparison with the king crab from before and now was tremendous.. they were like 3 times the size as they are now.. they were massive.. in comparison to what we get now which are punie babies! . I wish people were more conscious as you are about the environment

I'm concious of what I buy, but it's very little. I will only buy any fish that comes from sustainable stocks.

That's awesome, just reading about what we've discussed earlier.. and did you say "all beans compensate for what you get in beef" OMG so all you've been eating most of the time is beans? :O Omg I love beans.. but I've also learned to only have them when I know I am staying home.. they give me tummy problems.. I don't know how do you not get tired of those mike? :S

I do eat plenty of other stuff. Chick peas have the same nutritional value as lean meat.

My diet is actually terrible, I eat far too much cheese, chocolate etc :p

Veggie food is actually far less boring than meat dishes. There are so many variations you can make. I cooked my veggie chilli for a friend years ago, he was a very staunch meat eater and was a little apprehensive, but at the end he said "I didn't miss the meat in that!" His very words!

;)
