I vote even when the choice is dismal. The political set up pretty much attracts only scoundrels but don’t forget that from time to time an FDR or a Bernie Sanders emerges from the same system.

Btw, just because you do not understand a language is not an excuse to allow it to be obliterated. What some people say about Cajun is exactly the same as what speakers of continental French say about French spoken by the people of Quebec. But I agree, making a an important subject optional in schools is thoughtless. That's what they did with Latin a few years ago, if I recall correctly.

I don't vote, as I don't want to do jury duty.
No need to be afraid of doing jury service, I enjoyed it when I done my two weeks, it was more fun than going to work anyway.

Jury duty is a pet peeve of mine. I've been called to "serve" every three years for decades.
I wait in a room with other poor fools. A few are called; most of us are let go in the afternoon. Even when I have been seated for a jury, they settle before the trial begins.

We are there to pressure the sides to settle. They do so at the last minute. In all my wasted hours, I have never heard a case. Not once.

Theoretically, a civic duty. In reality, a waste of my time and a disrespect of my person.

I'm a regular voter, except for one election for town council back at my home town: Since I'm moving anyway, I couldn't care less. The electorial bitchslap for the mayor was still fun =D

There are different elections in Jirmeny, my homecountry - the elections for the Federal Parliament "Bundestag", the elections for the Parliament of the federal country "Landtag" and the communal elections for major etc.

Well, I must admit that I particate in every of those elections. I skipped one or two. ;) I don't really take the communal elections very seriously. Despite that I chose the first option.

Yes....And I always make sure to research the candidates beforehand.

Because I don't vote for a party...I vote for a person!

:thumbs up:

Same crap, different package. Promises are made, promises are broken. And of course it depends from country, but in here all the parties are pretty much the same. Very little differences, and none "radical" change never gets threw. And the amount of how much populism actually buys the voters... I don't remember who said it, or exactly how he said it, but it went somenthing like this "If you want to know why democracy doesn't work, just take a while and chat with an average voter".

But don't me get me wrong, I'm not an total anarchist or nothing, but I think we don't even try to develop the system anymore. And of course I stay in track about the political life, so I can steer my life safely past all the rocks of byrocrazy.;)

Yes i do go to elections and i can't wait to vote and get a rid of our current Government The Australian Labor Party and our Prime Minister Julia Gillard in September 14th this year, she has cause nothing but trouble for our country:(, first went she took the job over and kicked out our former PM Kevin Rudd the one who i voted for, she promised to the entire country no Carbon Tax in her Government, but what she did a few months later she brought it into Law and there's more which I'm sure the whole world has seen on the news,

btw, our election could come early than what was originally planned cause Tonight at 7pm ( My time ) our Former PM Kevin Rudd is going to challenge PM Julia Gillard for the leadership, I hope he wins cause his very popular with us voters and he said that if he doesn't win tonight than his retiring from Politics, but for one I'm not voting for our Opposition leader Tony Abbott, Sorry if i went overboard with this, didn't mean to be rude at all.

News Update

Kevin Rudd our Former PM won the challenge in the Leadership ballot against Julia Gillard by 57 to 45 votes, Congradulations to Mr Rudd :) but I still haven't decided if I should vote for his government The Australia labour party again or someone else's , but I'll have to wait and see what he does next for our country from now to our election day which I think he will call an August election.

Here is a direct link to the live coverage of the whole leadership spill that took place in our nations capital Canberra today this evening

We had an election yesterday.
US Senate special election.
The progressive was old and boring. He's been in government for decades. He does have a good record.
The conservative was a young hottie. Former navy seal; current hedge fund manager.

I'd do the hottie, but I voted for the old guy. Just don't fall asleep, Senator Markey.
