Yes I smoke but wish I didn't as it is so expensive in the UK. My brand costs almost 15 pounds for a 50g pack and then theres the cigarette papers to buy too!

Nope - never smoked. Three reasons:
  1. I sing, so smoking would have been a handicap.
  2. I came of age in the early 1970's when the link between smoking and lung / heart disease was in the news and being promoted in schools.
  3. My parents both smoked, but when I was about 10 they both quit smoking because they decided that they couldn't discourage their kids from taking up smoking if it was something that they did. That couldn't have been easy - I doubt I appreciated at the time how hard it must have been. But they didn't have to lecture me on the topic - I got the message.

I was not unique. I would say that amoung my friends in the late 70s, less than 50% smoked. As I continued into the 1980s that number continued to fall, to the point where smoking was the exception rather than the rule. Now that was when I lived in South California, and when I moved to the UK and later the east coast of the US I was surprised that many people still smoked - so what is "normal" definitely different depending on where you are.

Ew! No. It's disgusting. And besides, if I wanted everything yellow, I'd go out and buy some paint. In the end, it's much cheaper and takes less time.

Smoking is unhealthy and makes you look ugly.

Usually when I say that at work I add "Just have a look at Sacha"... he's a coworker of mine ;)

I do smoke and have for 51 (!!!!) years. I really want to quit. I'm sick of the smell, taste, smoke hangover in the morning, and the expense. When I started a pack of cigs cost 19 cents (or $1.69 a carton of 10). A carton if now $100! My lungs are fine but I know its not good for my health.
Last week I ran into a friend whom I don't often see. He was jubilant about celebrating his second year of not smoking. He enthusiastically recommended Chantex. My doctor told me about it several years ago but I ignored him. Now I'm ready to try. Has anyone else out there tried it? Had success?

Chantex is what I used - You really have to be ready to quit. It's not a miracle pill that stops you from smoking but it does help you through the intense cravings. Just be really careful because it can f*ck with your head while you're on it. I had weird dreams unlike I ever had in my life when I was sleeping so I actually weened myself off it earlier than the program is supposed to last but it already got me past the worst of the withdrawals so I was fine. 3 years now and I've never wanted to resume smoking cigarettes:) It's worth a try dude - good luck!

I have never smoked and never will. I have enough other ills to make up for it. Bad heart, Type II Diabeties, failing kidney to name a few so no I will never smoke.:butslap::duh:
