You guys are lucky that you haven't gotten sick. Have you ever heard of people getting really sick or dying from E. coli infections in tainted meat or vegetables. Well, that E. coli comes from feces, which is loaded with it. The bacteria in your mouth and stomach are not the same as the bacteria in your colon. If you transplant those bacteria from someone else's colon, into your mouth you can get sick. And, if your partner has a parasite, like ameba, or worms, guess what. You can get it.
