European song contest

Here we go again.Is anybody brain dead enough to enjoy the European song contest.Next to cookery shows,DIY makeovers,Reality fashion,Miss world it really is the pits.As you may gather I'm not a fan of reality shows with their so called stars.I also realise that I am in the minority.I've never sent a text and never will.I only use my mobile at airports to contact my Taxi.I am not one of those "I'm on the bus" people with phones.I don't want to be on constant call.Well thats my "Victor Meldrew" rant for today.Be lucky.

I haven't watched it for a while, and one of the reasons I liked it was for Terry Wogan's wonderfully sarcastic commentary. The rest of Europe didn't like him and seem to take it too seriously but to me it's just a laugh. It has to be - look who Ireland (usually the ones with good taste) have chosen to represent them )

The UK might do better this year, at least it's a known group, although they wouldn't be doing it if their main career wasn't already behind them

I did always enjoy it actually ( I must do, I have 2 double CDs of Eurovision songs) , the songs that appealed most to me were things like the obscure Icelandic or Maltese songs, for example, but never seemed to get voted very highly. I prefer them in their own languages.

So it looks like a pizza and nibbles night in front of the TV

Sweden stands a REALLY good chance I think....the mega hotties they have should score all the woman and gay men votes right across Europe.

I am cheering for my own country, but I will be happy also if Sweden wins. Or Austria.

Oh no, please not.

The text of this song has only one word: "popular" - this is soo boring. I don't like it and I really was surprised that this song did make it in the final tonight. I guess the singer knows that this song isn't that good and so he destroys a window on stage to distract from the bad song.

My favs are Ireland with the two crazy twins and Finland with the cute blond singer.

My vote was tied between Denmark & Ireland! I went for Ireland in the end, it was just that little more catchy.

I actually liked some of the more crazy or unusual entries, I did consider Germany, which was my 3rd choice. Those 3 for me were the most memorable - although I might have voted for the Ukraine sand painter, and the song wasn't too bad.

Anyway, we shall now see what the votes say ....
