@ Integras

I wouldn't call it a "hang up" about religion. I call it disdain.

When it comes down to it, it's not about capitalism, communism, prophets, or profits. I do not think we really live in an "enlightened, progressive world." We, as a society of humans, should "draw the line" to keep us away from ignorance, to protect and promote the weakest of us.

I admire your fire. Don't get me wrong there. It seems like you believe in hard boundaries, rather than shifting scratches in sand. I think humans, as individuals, have the ability to say, "This is as far as I am going." I believe in the human, but have little faith in human institutions, to do good and thoughtful things.

You will probably view this as defeatist, but Murphy's Golden Rule applies: He who has the gold, makes the rules. The rest of us just do what we can and make changes in small steps. I'd love it if we lived in an enlightened Star Trek world where money, illness, poverty were sad footnotes to history; where personal and societal enrichment drove the course of our days.

That is all.

Good arguments guys from both perspectives, and you're , in a way, saying the same things.

Please don't make it personal though, a healthy debate is never bad ;)

THis is quite healthy. Though i feel a bit out of my league whenever i have a quabble with integritas and others i won't mention :p.

@ Integras when you say draw the line, it sound almost like you want some sort of universal moral rule against corporations and them targeting kids. As am as significant as a grain of sand, I say the line will be drawn when it is necessary. That is what the government was created for, protecting the citizens. For instance my last roomate told me the story of how certain cigerette brands that target kids are being outlawed. this pissed him off because well, one of them was his favorite. On one hand he'll still smoke, but now that he and others of his age group (17-21) will most likely smoke less now. regardless of what they do, the Government protected them from being targeted by the cigarette companies. Now i know this is really not significant, but my point is A line need not be drawn. The root of the problem is not corporations, they answer to us! IF kids don't want to have sex, they won't condom or not especially at the age of 12. I know many kids that had sex at that age and YOungeR! The only reason a company would create such a thing is if there seems to be a need for it. I'm not necessarily saying they actually give a shit about the welfare of the kids, at worst they are just being smart. Just like the companies that are now touting "green" products when in truth they could care less....rather they are simply anwsering to consumer demand! Companies will always be motivated by money, they are created for just that purpose. Its our job as consumers to make sure that it is profitable to morally culpable.

All that said i am not saying good for young kids to have sex..but i'd rather they the option and knowledge of things to do and ways to protect themselves. Kids are stubborn simply telling them they can't do something won't stop them...not unless you have a beating stick in hand :))

P.S. Sorry this got very long winded! kudos to those who actually read the whole ramble!!!

Thanks Newage... but you also fail to even indicate a limit --rather you simply trust that (i) corporations/obscenely wealthy classes of people will act according to some unspecified, woolly law of nature?? And (ii) that the government acts primarily to as to protect people. Governments are technically run by parliaments --but politicians can be bought, or manipulated by the uber-rich. Tobacco corporations are making more money that ever! Why? Because they have diversified, and amalgamated with other entities --many corporations even set up and control charities as 'fronts'. Tobacco and alcohol are both legal --alcohol is much more dangerous than most drugs and causes huge social problems, and domestic abuse... but that's a game of tax revenues (continually being passed along to bankers and other complex financial networks!). However, politicians and bankers fail to really intervene with respect to the massive drugs trade... why? And, to stay on topic --do you feel that it would be a good idea to 'educate' 8 year olds on how to shoot up safely? Wouldn't that be a grand idea? How caring! I mean they are 'doing it' anyway, so why not teach them how to do it safely!

It's not complicated really --you work, you pay taxes... and no matter what the wealthy get wealthier... and wealthier. Everything else is an illusion. The rich (and the politicians and bureaucrats they OWN) do not not really care about working class children, or gay rights, or racism... they are just emotive 'issues' being played, or moved around the chess board. There is a sense of progress in all of this, but ultimately the poor get poorer, new poverty traps (or tricks) are invested and reinvented every day. You continue to pay taxes. As of right now it is mathematically impossible for the US (and many other peoples/nations) to repay mounting debts. But don't worry your little head about the banking and corporate classes... it's becoming all too apparent that they are are still doing what they do best: securing vast wealth. This is not progress, just an old order posing as new order.

Now, Now you and i both know kids shooting up coke and having sex are two very different things. Regardless of what your subjective views are, at least we should be able to agree that objectively coke is far more harmful than sex..at least physically--i'd also say mentally but that would be more subjective.

Secondly im not sure how the parliament is run, but there in U.S. Congressmen and Representatives are held accountable for their actions, if the general population of particular states don't like their actions they will be voted out. That said, many citizens at least here in america are only being more interested in politicss...in time of need. Citizens of countries need to be more aware of what their politicians are doing soo taht they can be held accountable. ANd when i say we..im not talking about the rich and the wealthy. You keep touting that they control us...while that may be true. we are not powerless against them. THe only blame is on the general population that seats home THINKING they have no power instead of getting out there and making others hear their words. I can't speak for many other countries..but here in U.S. you can do just that..but not enough people get out there.

On another note, moral lines are fictiious and subjective that is why i say NO NEED FOR IT! if anything a well defined law should be put in place..but i don't even think it has yet come to that. What is needed here is a public outcry for parents to take better care of their kids. LIke the mothers here in U.S. who created MADD (Mothers against drunk driving) to protect the many other kids out there. I know alcohol can be dangerous, but so can driving a car...doesn't mean it should be banned. I know what happened the last time alcohol was banned...it only lead to the creation of criminals who sold at a higher price and made a huge profit. THe thing here is alcohol CAN be dangerous if not used appropiately. As long as it not a definite then it should not be banned. At the same time, as much as I loathe cigarettes i can't say Oy cigarettes should be banned. Even though it will most likely cause cancer..it doesn't not cause immediate harm. And as long as people are aware of the harm it causes then its up to them to make their decisions. Its the opiates that i can fully say, yes they should be banned, simply because they can kill in one dose. And will were on the topic of drugs why is marijuana banned?? When I ask people why its banned they have no just reason..but that it is banned. THis actually an example of governments being stupid. Next cigarettes! THere is nothing wrong with the existence of the cigarette company and their soo called influence. Because jus as they roll out their horrble products, so does other companises roll out ways to beat the addiction. The only caviar is that it seems that EVERY european movie has some depiction of cigarette smoking. And im not sure if, they are always sponsered by the companies or youse europeans just love your cigs :? One has to be wary of the rights that is being taken away by the government. More to why i don't want them making anymore laws limiting out rights. Rather i say we as a people need to take better care of our kids and protect them from harm. Which is why i like that Town hall meetings here in U.S. are getting more crowded and the politicians here know we mean bussiness. Regardless of what lobbyist say and do any selfrespecting congressmen knows he most keep his bosses(us) happy or he will be out of a job.

TO think all this b/c of a child condom made in switz. If the people feel strongly against it, then its their right to march over to their representatives and speak out. Or boycott stores that carry it. People need to stop complaining about their statutes do something.

ANd it seems we have stumbled upon a new topic(besides the cig debate)..the mounting debts in several countries. Debts can be forgiven in the later future...if not many 3rd world countries and even some european countries would have crashed and burn. That said many still crash and burn. The first priority is getting back to a stable economy where millions are being layed over in themillions per month with about 1 opening per 10 applicants. Thats the way it is in many 3rd world countries and seems like even the "developed" countries are heading in that direction.

And as for the rich getting richer thats not the case with many. i blame the SEC here at least, that failed to catch the ibankers that crippled out economies and many world wide. And you know what many rich people are deeply hurt by this economy. I know kids that had to drop out of my private catholic schools because my their parents where laid off. ANd come of these were millionaires compared to me. My family was rocked as well...but thank god my mom was able to cling on to her job..otherwise i would have a similar fate. There are hundreds of stories out there of the millionaires who are now dead broke. The solution now is to challenge those who ripped of benefits during the downfall of others...especially with the MAdoff ponzi scheme:angry::angry::angry:.

Besides we can't thrive without the rich and the rich can't thrive without us. Simply hating them will bring nothing but horrible events--like the french revolution! And i hate the idea were everyone has everything handed out to them regardless of skill...that will only stunt the human growth in all areas of studies. The solution? nothing, let the rich enjoy their caviar and expensive wine, and poor enjoy alcohol and ciggs. Besides not all of the rich stays rich forever, just has some fell of the ladder with the economic downturn many are going up! I believe there have been some progress, though who you know may still be important...its a lot easier to know people now in these times.

And ofcourse im not gullible enough to think that every1 in government care about GLBT, some only deal with such issue b/c we challenge the government. But if are to gain equal protection it has to begin at the local level. THe government simply mandating it doesn't mean sh!t if the people want follow up.

But enough about me not drawing a line and government being crappy...What do YOU PROPOSE? :?

Your right about the 2 party thing. AND IM I wrong was the prime minister simply picked out w/o a vote by the citizens of england. However while your right about the system being wrong, anarchy is not the way. Simply ignoring the government and/or attempting to destroy will bring about a state of widespread corruption/disorder and much misfortune. A world with no order is much more scary than the one that is here now. Until someone or a group of people come up with a better system i will continue to revel in my fantasies and the legal opiates of the world (alcohol, entertainment). For at least the hearbreak, the corruption is somewhat limited. I know a revolution is necessary, but my feeble heart does not want to be on the wake of such days again. I remember growing up in Nigeria, where riots break out, and several attempts were made to assasinate the president (more like a dictator). I remember the empty seats in my school...and well im just not up for that again..not now , not ever. I'll rather try to fix this broken system in bits and pieces than be radical...in my mind the end doesn't always justify the means.

P.S. jUst look at what going on right now in Greece...imagine that on a global state. Every country in such a state will cause so much destruction...i can't help but helplessly hope there is another solution...

At the age of 12 I did not think about sex either...I was a retarded boy HAHAH! Nah, I was a bit slow in sexual development. I did have pubic hair at 12 but I did not think about sex. I started thinking about sex at about 13 and a half when I had my first GF and I was stiffy all the time LOL! and at the age of 14 and a bit I started masturbating. I remember there were days in my teenage period that I wanked even 4 times a day :| which now that I think about it sounds a bit too much:)
I also remember when I was 13-14 , I had a small dick LOL! Cause once in a while at the beach I would have an erection and it was so small...but it grew in time thankfully!:)

Back to the topic: the small condoms is a good idea. Cause here, in Italy , they have sex at young ages...they`re like fucking at 12 yo...:| The boys here are 14 yo but they look like an 18yo at least. With beards and facial hair and all...

I'm almost afraid to answer since this post turned so intellectual.
However, politics aside, biologically isn't 10-12 pretty rare to get pregnant at? Girls don't ovulate till 12-14 and boy's don't start producing sperm till around 12. Granted children are developing sooner now then they did 20 years ago, but what about education. I'm not for or against the condoms, but wondering where are the values we are suppose to instill in our youth? What about the parent teaching this stuff.
Granted, I never got "the talk", and back when I was in school, it was not really addressed. We didn't have sex education, no one mentioned condoms or birth control, rhythm, puberty. Maybe one person found out and informed the rest of us.
I think we need to be more responsible to the youth. Rather than handing out condoms because we know they are going to do it so we go with the flow, shouldn't we be talking to them and trying to get them to understand the true implications of their actions?

OK, now on a lighter note. Maybe I read this here, I can't remember.
But children always want to try things that are taboo to them. Plus they never want to do what their parents do. SSSSOOOO,
Mommy and Daddy go talk to son and daughter and tell them what fantastic sex they had the previous night, and they really enjoyed ??? position. That will turn the kids off of sex for years. Therefor problem solved.:thumbs up:
