The purpose of Gayheaven is not to have volatile discussions and if you feel you wish to have these whether public or hidden then maybe you should find another forum to do that.
Those of us who love the interesting debates in the general section are not looking for a 'volatite' discussion. We're looking for an honest and frank discussion about stuff that really matters to gay people alive in 2016.
Each and every one of the controvercial topics has been intricately related to gay life. In the political discussions, the candiates' views and policies on gay rights are always central to the discussion. On the religious topics, the teachings of those religions on gays are never far from the centre of the discussion. Even on the immigration debate it was very much about the effect of immigration on gay people - one of the big fears is that the clock will get turned back by more conservative people entering the west, and that rights we take for granted will get erroded. Or, if not that, that there will be rise in violence against gay people.
I can't have a discussion on the effects of X or Y on gay people anywhere but here. It is one of the things that makes this place great.
People don't get heated about things that are not very peresonal to them, and very important to them.
Is a community really a community if you can't talk frankly about the things that are the most on your mind?
B.
