Another question for you Shelt....what's Kuemmerling? Sounded more medicinal than culinary but I was intrigued. Do you know what that is? What about Super Dickmans? I thought maybe that was your superhero name

Here is your answer: Kuemmerling is the brand name of a herbal liqueur. It is a so called "bitter" with 35% Vol. And yes it is a very good medicine after you have had a very fat-rich meal. And believe me - everytime you need it it will help you! But only for the consumption I wouldn't recommend it.



And now to the Super Dickmann's:
Dickmann's are very tasty chocolate "foam-kisses". You will get them with white chocolate, black chocolate and milk chocolate. And yes I loved these sweet things from my childhood until today.
But "Dickmann" is the name of the company founder and sadly has nothing to do with the much sweeter DICKs. Sorry!

Ah... there are a variety of liqueurs in Germany which are slightly bitter and "herbal" in taste, not sweet and sugary, like most we have in the UK...

Germans like playing the charade saying they a "medicinal".... any excuse for a little tipple...

Kuemmerling is one those. It is clove and cinnamon based,plus some other spices which I don't know. It is quite strong, though. I brought a bottle back once from Germany, and it is rather good before a big dinner.

Hi my friend - I hope you will have a nice time with your "German"-party. And yes in the years "without" political-correctness the Dickmanns have been called "Negerküsse" but the translation "Nigger-Kisses" is wrong the real translation was "Negroes-Kisses". "Nigger" has always been and is in the German language always a very bad cussword!
So we have had in our German cuisine a very delicious Schnitzel - it was called
"Zigeunerschnitzel" (gypsy-schnitzel) but now (oh what we really are for good people!) the term "Zigeuner" (gypsy) is a forbidden term - so this Schnitzel is now called "Paprika-Schnitzel" :rofl::rofl::rofl: Are we good in finding new terms?????
