Historical citroënist Jacques Séguéla

In 1958-59, Jean-Claude Baudot and Jacques Séguéla made a world tour in 2 CV. It is the beginning of a long love story between the famous publicist and Citroën. He worked for thousand brands and managed the communication of thousand VIP but he made the campain of only one constructor. Above, we can see him posing for the 2 CV catalog 1962.

How to translate "tapecul" in English ?
Literaly slap ass but seesaw ("bascule") would be better. Anyway if the marketing department agreed, Citroën staff was very angry for this ads and he banned Jacques Séguéla, the 2CV man, and his agency for some years.

Two years later, without Jacques Séguéla, the GSA ads "It remake the road" is more consensual. However the message is the same. ;)

Enhanced lighting in serie for DS Pallas, in option for other models

Long-range iodine headlights on the first model Pallas in 1965

This basic model has the option turning headlights.

DS Pallas with dipped beam

DS Pallas with 4 long-range headlights (model 1973)

Left : the original main headlight after 1967
Right : the same headlight with one long-range iodine lamp incorporated

Left : dipped beam
Right : 2 long-range headlights whose one turning

Like the SM above, DS Pallas after 1970 had 4 long-range headlights. DS models 1973 had the lighting DS Pallas with all lamps H1 iodine in serie, except for DSpecial. Today, with our LED lamps, it is still better !

ID/DS production

Barely one million and a half, it is not bad for a laboratory vehicle !

Until 1971, Citroën Javel manufactory counted separately ID and DS, mechanical and hydraulics gearbox

From the appearance of Ami 6 then GS, the production decrease inside Citroën global production.

Except for 1966, ID, DSpecial, DSuper are always more produced than DS.

Blue : Mechanical gearbox
Violet : Hydraulics gearbox

V6 Maserati VS V6 PRV (Peugeot-Renault-Volvo)

Paris motorshow 1974 : first appearance of the V6 PRV under the bonnet of Peugeot 504 coupé and Volvo 264/265; last Paris motorshow for Citroën SM

2 years later the new motor is assembled at the rear of the Alpine A 310. With the gear box toward the front, the driving group has the same direction than the one of the SM.

Two 6 cylinder 2.6 liter with one V of 90°.

SM driving group with V6 Maserati connected with a 5 speeds gearbox DS type.

V6 PRV of the Alpine A 310

Left : V6 Maserati - 4 over camshafts driven by an intermediary shaft.
Right : V6 PRV - 2 over camshafts - 2 long chains with hydraulics holder.
Difference : around less 20 HP for the PRV but four times more kilometers!

The controversial valve timing of the Maserati engine with a very requested intermediary shaft driven by one double chain without holder.

This model, made especially for automobile events, show how is working hydropneumatic suspension. The mechanical has been dismantled and the engine is replaced by an electric motor that is driving the high pressure pump.

GSp?cial, a GS model for crisis times

"one Franc is one Franc - one liter is one liter" said the ads. We were in January 1974, only some weeks after the first oil shock. Citro?n tried to make more attractive its downscale GS renamed GSp?cial like DSp?cial for the range DS. New orange color and big advertising campaign.

After having drained all the numbers until 9999 ZZ 75 (beginning in 1950 with 1 A 75), Parisians gets some new plates with 3 numbers, 3 letters and always 75 for Seine department.

Above : the little clock of Club version is added.
Below : Logo GSp?cial silver for 6 CV 1015 cm3, golden for 7 CV 1220 cm3.

Nice vaccum cleaner ! ;)

New radiator gril and new engine 6 CV 1130 cm3 for the GSp?cial 1978.

When in 1979 appear GSA five doors, the GSp?cial is keeping the old GS body four doors.

1981 : GSp?cial become GSA Sp?cial, 5 speeds gearbox in option.
1982 : The engine 7 CV 1300 cm3 is assembled on the GSA Sp?cial. The version 6 CV is named just GSA.

1986 is the last year of manufacturing. Only 2 models with the same mechanical remain at the catalog : GSA Sp?cial and GSA X3.
