Something to ponder: lots of countries have abolished the death penalty (if they ever had it), and consider that imposing the death penalty is barbatric. Should they boycott countries where the death penalty is carried out? Just sayin'.
There is big difference. You are talking about kind of penalty for some crime. For example murder. It's crime in any country I think. And it's correct of course.
I'm not going to murder anyone so I have no reason to be afraid to go to US (for example).
But if I as a gay man(which is absolutely not crime anywhere in the world by my sense for justice) would go to some country where is homosexuality illegal I would have problems there.
Well I know I may get in trouble also in country where is homosexuality legal. But there I could find police and want protection. I'm sure that in "against gay" countries live gay and gayfriendly people too. But what I should do if would meet the others?
Well I could act straight behavior and no one would be able to suspect anything. But It's uncomfortable for me. I like my freedom. Althought there are beautiful historical monuments what I would like to see like pyramides in Egypt, Leptis Magna in Lybia and so on... I won't travel there. Maybe after some time I'll change my attitude (or better laws will be changed). But at the moment, for me, it doesn't worth it.
