So i live in a small town. its nothing too rural, and most of the voters are liberal, but it's still hard to make gay friends. I'm gay, obviously, but i somehow have difficulty making friends with other gay guys. I need advice, because there are times when i get tired of all my girl friends. I know how to date guys, but how do you become another guys friend without him thinking you're hitting on him. HELP!

thanks

Some dating sites oddly enough have it so you can make friends as an option for the site. Also Facebook, Myspace, and Twitter might be ways if that works out by searching up people.

...plus you never know, start chatting on here and you might get to know lots of people, some may not be too far away from you ;)

well there are a couple not out, but clearly gay, guys at my work. What would your advice be to make friends with them? Making friends in general has always been a hard thing for me. How should i go about trying to be their friend, without sending "i like you" signals?

Twitter is a good place for now, lol

But I guess you can find them if you find a working place too.

I would say for those at work or those you might know in town, try to find out their interests (music, games, sports etc) and if you can make conversation with them about it or try to find things in common then approach them about it.. You can learn things about them by just observing them or dare I say, eavesdropping on them. You can also just make yourself more visible, make it a point to say hello or goodbye whenever you can and just start making small talk. Then maybe as you become more comfortable you never know...ask about going for a drink after work one night. Good luck. :)

As Gj said see if you can find any common interests and then, depending on the type of place you work at, maybe you could "arrange" to be at he water cooler at the same time, or a "is this seat taken" in the canteen/cafeteria... and anyway, how do you know that when they are chatting it's not about you!!, and along the lines of "Geez he's really nice looking, I wish I had the nerve to go over and say Hi"

Perhpas it is worth considering the issue from your potential friends' point of view: Why would they want to become friends with you or, rather, how can you catch their attention and make them desire your company?

In my opinion being extrovert, friendly and not affraid of showing your interest in others are the simplest ways of making new friends.

Try it (if you haven't already) - and good luck :)

I'm in the same case , No one suspect I'm gay/bi, I look completely straight and I don't have gay friends, and I only would come out to gay people not to others... Also In all my life I only meet some obviously gay, maybe one or two but I think I'm not compatible with obviously gay people... And how to know gays with straigh look?? I think the only way is asking but hahah I dont think thats a good idea xD

In conclusion meet gays to me for now is impossible ....

There's a lot to be said for eye contact ;) You can often know by that fleeting look at each other ;)

Well as Xman said

And what's so wrong with "sending "i like you" signals?"

lol! first of all, thanks for everyone who commented! Well someone posted something about having straight friends, i do.

I like hanging out with straight guys but sometimes they can make you feel like the odd ball out when they talk about girls or stuff like that. I'm bi, i can relate on most levels, but i have a boyfriend(and we've been together a number of years) so its a bit different.

The reason i want more gay friends, guys, is because other gay guys can relate on certain levels.

as for the "whats wrong with sending i like you signals?" i dont want to send i like you signals because i have a boyfriend. i'm just looking for more friends really, nothing more.

thanks for all the responses guys! i loved it :]

Well you can still send a "I like you" signal... just make sure it's subtle and low key enough so that it's not interpereted as a " Jeez your so cute I want your beautiful naked body in my bed right now" signal
