I get so confused about the Republic of Ireland and the UK

Ok...i know and understand the different governments and the associations...but I am confused about something...

I thought the Republic of Ireland was not part of the Commonwealth. But the other day, I read where citizens of the Republic of Ireland are eligible to join the British Armed Forces??

And how does that oath to the HRM thing work for an Irishman?:?

WTF...any UKers or Irishers want to explain this to a confused Irish/UK-American.:?:?

Don't mention that damn treaty!! We don't even get the chance to vote -why?? They know if we did it would very likely be a resounding NO!!

Ireland rejects it, so they decide to have the vote again, and again probably, until the answer is Yes! This is EU democracy!

I have very strong views about the way the EU is run and controls. People should really read more about it, but so many are not interested, and don't seem to care. Yes, a lot hate the EU without knowing why they hate it, in many cases it's just age old prejudices, in my case it's because I know what they're doing by manipulation and subterfuge.

I'm not anti-Europe, I'm anti-undemocratic Europe!!

I voted Libertas in the Euro elections, they believe in a democratic Europe!
